HARARE, ZIMBABWE – What was once a boutique has become a retail chain group of fashion stores, Jan Jam Boutique which has opened its third store in G. Silundika in the heart of Harare. With two stores in the same street it makes shopping for him and her a breeze in the CBD. Next to Herald House is an elevated store with the golden mannequins in full display.

The signature look of a luxe store with monochrome design and lighting is the best yet aesthetically of their stores to date.

On Tuesday 5 June, while others gathered for a political march. Socialites, fashionistas, bloggers and influencers flocked the store to ready for its launch. Food was by Chef Makoni known to most as The Black Chef ZW and decor was by VIP hosting.

The founders of the JanJam brand Mr and Mrs  Sithole have made opening boutiques look easy, when admitting in public Father to Cynthia Sithole said she has always been industrious and hard working. JanJam brings international trends and styles of fashion to Zimbabwean men and women for an affordable price. While also ensuring a great user experience with their store design and decor.

The event in addition to all the fashionistas and models in the know had many Harareans stop by to see. Best part is the 10 percent discount cards EVERY guest was given. These cards looked like Mastercards and not your average vouchers.

Things we recommend for the savvy guy to get in the store:

– Accessories are everything, the selection of hats and ties in store are amazing.
– The suits selection of colours offer variety from a wedding day to a graduation outfit.

LOCATION of stores:
N.Mandela & First Street
G. Silundika & First Street
G. Silundika & Second Street

The British South Africa Company established governance in 1890 in what would become Zambia and Zimbabwe [and including the Kingdom of Barotseland because colonialism], calling the region Rhodesia (after Cecil Rhodes, the man behind the money).  Eventually, the region was split into Northern and Southern Rhodesia as protectorates of the British Empire, but they were politically tied together again in the late 1950s, along with Nyasaland (Malawi), for a brief stint at confederation, before all three (Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Malawi) all gained independence in the mid-1960s.  [But not Barotseland.]  Imperialism!

Africa you crazy, beautiful continent.

You broke me physically. You took 5kgs in 5 days. You tested my resilience with your lack of electricity, running water and flushing toilets (which was horrendous when I was ill).

But you gave me so much back. You taught me how to smile and laugh again. You taught me to be grateful for the little things. You brought amazing people into my life. You healed me spiritually, mentally and emotionally.

For that, I will always look back on you fondly.

PETA president calls for dentist who killed Cecil the Lion to be ‘extradited, charged and preferably hanged’

Animal rights group PETA is calling for a trophy-seeking Minnesota dentist to be “extradited, charged, and preferably hanged” after he paid $50,000 to hunt and kill Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe.

Walter Palmer and his hunting guides reportedly tied an animal carcass to the back of their truck and lured Cecil out of Hwange National Park. Zimbabwean authorities identified Palmer, who allegedly shot Cecil with a crossbow, tracked the lion for 40 hours, and killed it with a high-powered rifle. The lion, beloved by locals and tourists, was found skinned and decapitated.

Palmer went into hiding after becoming the subject of death threats and other online attacks. His dental office has been shuttered and temporarily closed and he was not found at his suburban home.

In the above photos, Palmer can be seen happily posing with animals killed while on safari.

The “smoke that thunders” - Victoria Falls is certainly appropriately named.

Watching the yellow weaver birds build their nests along the Zambeze River.

We loved all of Victoria Falls, but the Devil’s Cataract was so beautiful.
