These funny-looking spirits are transformations of Chinese-style oiled-paper umbrellas. They’re often depicted having either one or two legs, a single large eye, and a long, protruding tongue.
Nº 6: The Akaname
Akaname is a small, goblin-like yokai that dwells in the dirtiest homes and public baths. These stinky spirits have extremely long, sticky tongues to lap up the slime, grease, hair, and other filth found in bath houses and behind toilets.
Nº 4: The Inugami
Inugami are a type of familiar commonly found in West Japan. They’re often disguised as regular dogs to blend in with society. Its true form is that of a dog dressed in ceremonial trappings.
