This week’s Workshop is being hosted this Sunday, with a guest post on writing Character Arcs by @drgrlfriend.

We’ll be opening up a special channel in the Discord server for writers to talk through what works for them, query other writers (including the Mods), and just chat about character arcs in general. You can talk about what works for you both as a writer and a reader, and hear what works for others.

As always, everyone who is participating in the Bang is welcome to join, but other writers who may have chosen not to sign up for various reasons are also more than welcome to join us and offer insight or pick up tips!

Timing and What To Expect:

Here is what you can expect to see this weekend!

  • Just before 6pm GMT (what time is that for me?) on Sunday, 22nd May, the guest post for Writing Character Arcs will go live here on the WHOB Tumblr!
  • After that, from 6pm GMT until 8pm GMT, @drgrlfriend will be available to take questions and chat characterisation in the Discord server.
  • Throughout the next 24 hours the discussion channel will be live with everyone invited to share their tips, ask questions and just take part in a discussion about character arcs.
  • The Mod Team will be available off and on throughout as our schedules allow, but don’t be afraid to carry on the conversation without us!
  • At 6pm GMT on Monday, 26 April, the official event will end, but the channel will remain available for later perusal, so that all the great tips and advice are there for you!

Happy writing, and we can’t wait to see you in the server this weekend!

This way to the Discord server!

The Character Arcs workshop begins in two hours!!

We’re ready to announce our Writers Workshops for this year! We will also be having some artist ones but they’ll take place after Artist Claims, so we’ll provide information about those then.

We’ll be keeping our workshops to the same format as last year, with a guest post about the topic being posted on Tumblr, followed by a couple of hours of discussion in the Discord server.

Our first workshop this year will be hosted by @drgrlfriend and will be on Character Arcs. This will take place on Sunday May 22nd from 6pm GMT (what time is that for me?).

Our second workshop will be run by @flawedamythystonWriting Dialogue, and will be some time towards the end of June, date to be confirmed closer to the time.

Our final writer workshop will be hosted by @captn-sara-holmes and will be on Action Sequences, and will take place in July, before the deadline for Artist Claims on July 25th.

If you’re interested in the workshops from last year, the Discord channels are still available for you to read through the discussions, and the posts themselves are available at:
