The first time the Young Avengers and the X-Men meet, Tommy challenges Northstar to a race. Tommy loses miserable but, the two are two peas in a pod, and work together quite well. Most of the Young Avengers and X-Men find it shocking how swimmingly the two could get along, see as how they both seem to fight with everyone else all the time. Kate says it’s an asshole speedster thing, and everyone agrees.

X-men: The Trial of Magneto #2 (OF 5) by Valerio Schiti

I’m very intrigued by this upcoming mini-event. I’m hoping Magneto will not return to his fully villainous ways because I love his heroic, leadership role in the Krakoa. This particular cover interests me because of the inclusion of the Wanda, Pietro, Billy, and Tommy. For a while we have lived within the retcon that Magneto is not the father (or grandfather) of these four, but with this cover, I’m hoping that Marvel will now retcon the retcon. I loved this messed up family and want them back at the forefront of the comics.

O Teddy tree

O Teddy tree!

How Hulkling are thy branches?

Wishing you and yours a safe and happy holiday, and a bright new year!

We’re taking a short break from making comics to fully lean into the holidays (AKA playing a lot of Hades and eating cookies for days). See you in 2021!

Happy Hanukkah! When we started the comic we were really keen on celebrating Billy’s Jewish roots—a Happy Hanukkah! When we started the comic we were really keen on celebrating Billy’s Jewish roots—a Happy Hanukkah! When we started the comic we were really keen on celebrating Billy’s Jewish roots—a Happy Hanukkah! When we started the comic we were really keen on celebrating Billy’s Jewish roots—a

Happy Hanukkah!

When we started the comic we were really keen on celebrating Billy’s Jewish roots—a Hanukkah comic was a MUST.

At first we thought about telling the story of Teddy’s first celebration with the Kaplans but the idea of Tommy as the outsider struck like lightning and we couldn’t let him go.

For context: this takes place in the pocket of time after Children’s Crusade when Billy [spoilers] gives up superhero life for awhile.

Saw it a couple weeks ago! Had been really looking forward to it, for a lot of reasons. I liked it, but tbh I wanted to like it more than I actually did.

- The main issue for me was that I didn’t buy into the central premise of Wanda as the villain, post Wandavision. It’s not that I don’t believe she has the potential because she 100% does, after all, this is the same character who in the comics went “no more mutants” and in the MCU mind controlled an entire town. It’s that they didn’t convince me that the Wanda who understood the wrongs she committed in Wandavision and genuinely regretted her actions would then immediately turn around and go full ‘I don’t give a shit who I have to murder to steal this other woman’s life and her kids’. I gather the Darkhold was negatively influencing her but IMO they didn’t sell it all the way as ‘this is why, it’s not really Wanda’, and even if they had, honestly I find that a cop-out. So anyway it was hard to appreciate the movie for what it was when the whole time I was just thinking ‘this is not Wanda wtf’. Which is a shame, because I think a villain Wanda I believed in would have been great, and she certainly was pretty scary.

- But I did like a lot of parts of the movie! Especially just Stephen himself. I LOVE HIM.

- I loved America, and I loved her relationship with Stephen. So good. (And at least they kept her moms, though I’m honestly not surprised they managed to avoid yet again showing a character as LGBTQ+.)

- Wong is so great. I was about to be so fucking mad that they killed him off, in my head I was just like ‘no they didn’t no they didn’t he’s FINE’ until finally they showed him okay. Him trying to get Stephen to bow to him was the best.

- Loved the Illuminati! And what a fun way to include some AU things we don’t have in the main timeline, like Maria!Captain Marvel, and Captain Carter (CAPTAIN CARTER OH MY GOD SHE WAS SOOOOO COOL). Xavier in his hover chair! With the cartoon music! I was so surprised to see what’s his name as Reed. (I always think of him first as Emily Blunt’s husband, lol.)

- There were some really cool visuals, notably the montage where America and Stephen are moving from universe to universe. I also liked the fighting with musical notes, and Wanda fighting through reflections.

- Zombie Strange was fucking weird but I liked it.

- I think they used Christine well, and I believed that Stephen genuinely loved her but couldn’t figure out how to be with her, and I believed in her importance to him. I really liked the last scene of him and the other universe’s Christine together, where he finds a sort of closure and peace.

- Also loved Stephen being faced with all the other Stephens’ bad choices, and then being able to make better ones himself, even to the point of saving America when she herself was at peace with that not happening. I got a little teary when he helped her find her own control.

- And for all that this way of doing villain Wanda didn’t work for me, I still cried when Billy and Tommy were scared of her and she realized she had become their monster. That really got me.

- I want Young Avengers Billy (and Billy/Teddy!!) SO MUCH but I was still pleased to see the Wandavision versions of him and Tommy again because the child actors are so charming.

- I loved the goat dude. Glad he’s okay!!

- CLEA! CHARLIZE THERON! CHARLIZE THERON AS CLEA!!!! Oh my fucking God. I almost jumped out of my seat and cheered. Marvel, thank you for this gift, holy shit.

The Young Avengers in “All My Exes in the Nexus”

Written by ALYSSA WONG

Nebula, World Fantasy, and Locus-award winner Alyssa Wong and fan-favorite artist Stephen Byrne reunite the Young Avengers in a story guaranteed to please fans new and old! Byrne will also depict the team in one of the issue’s variant covers.

“YOUNG AVENGERS is one of my cornerstone comics: fun, romantic, hilarious, ambitious, queer, and utterly buck wild. ‘All My Exes In the Nexus’ is a love letter to the queer chaos, camaraderie, and joy that the Young Avengers embody. (And it’s a Loki story, because of course it is),” Wong teased.

“I couldn’t be more excited to work on the Young Avengers story for MARVEL’S VOICES: PRIDE. The Gillen/McKelvie run was one of my earliest encounters with queer representation in comics and it is an exciting honor to be drawing them now,” Byrne added.

After having seen “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, I wanna say a polite f*** you to Marvel!

IF YOU THINK TEDDY (KAPLAN-)ALTMAN IS BI, GET OFF MY PAGE AND UNFOLLOW ME!

Some characters, even ones you might consider attractive, are gay. Stop changing them! Teddy and Billy are gay, just as much as Tommy and David are bi, or how America is lesbian. I‘m tired of works and discourses where people try to actively change/fight characters‘ sexual identities.

This is still homophobia. These are minority characters that mean the world to people around the world belonging to that minority. Invalidating a minority character is invalidating the minority in real life. TEDDY AND BILLY ARE GAY.

geekgirl101:

This comic officially needs a new title. How do you forget to include Magneto in a comic called TRIAL OF MAGNETO! He legit appears in like two panels.

Why the hell does Williams think that Billy and Tommy spent their “Entire lives” defending Wanda. They didn’t even know she was their mother for most of their life. They’re like in their twenties in comic book world. They didn’t even know shew was their mom until they were sixteen. And didn’t meet her (For Tommy) until Children’s Crusade. Or met her briefly (Billy).

IF this ends up being that future Wanda killed past Wanda to change her destiny or what not, I am going to be so pissed, because that’s going to be the world’s lamest ending.

So this whole thing is the three Wanda’s. Past Present and Future. Oh wow. That’s so deep and clever.

THis entire comic is a wasted opportunity.

AND WHY THE HELL WERE BILLY AND TOMMY YELLING AT WANDA? It was completely unnecessary, especially when she hasn’t had time to process the info dump she got from the Telepaths with no common sense.

What really set me off isn’t the stupid decision to give Billy red powers, the awful storytelling, or the way they try to shoehorn a connection between Wanda and the twins, but how they screamed at here. It was brutal to see. You‘re telling ME the kids who saved and defended Wanda in the Children‘s Crusade would go and scream at her when she‘s literally having a breakdown and have this abuse be her motivation?

Tommy would never. But Billy???? no possible way would Billy, the man who constantly doubts himself, who believes in everyone, who knows how bad your mental health can get, who knows how tricky powers are, ever, EVER scream at anyone, especially not his spiritual mom. Even after he realized what Loki was planning, he still treated him with respect and treated him as a friend.

WHEN YOU WRITE A FREAKING COMIC READ A FEW FREAKING COMICS BEFOREHAND! IT‘S THE SAME WITH THE INFINITY COMIC. YOU ARE WRITING ESTABLISHED CHARACTERS. YOU GET PAID TO DO THAT! YOU CANNOT JUST CHANGE THEM HOW YOU SEE FIT. IT‘S YOUR FREAKING JOB!

How Wiccan became friends with Northstar and Kyle Jinadu

Wiccan and Hulkling invited Northstar (Jean-Paul Beaubier), Kyle Jinadu and Iceman (Bobby Drake) to have dinner with them in space. How Wiccan came to know Northstar and Kyle is that he probably met the couple way back in Krakoaland during the Scarlet Witch incident.
