jason reality: hugenerd, does all of his homework + extra credit assignments, lives for field trips, probably cries while reading books in english class, has like 2 friends, that one kid who reminds the teacher about homework
cass expectation: literally non existent?? i’ve never seen her in a high school au why
cass reality: puts effort into only the work she’s interested in, generally viewed as a good student, secretly breaks rules constantly but never gets caught
tim expectation: nerdy af, top of the class, probably bullied lowkey
tim reality: literally never does homework, stays up all night researching things that have nothing to do with school, constantly daydreaming in class and probably falls asleep, hated by teachers, students find him mildly terrifying, has really close friends
I feel like what people on the margins don’t even begin to understand is the harm this shit has done to the community aside from the blatant theft itself.
I have had people who used to be friends with Maddie - and who are not anymore for all the reasons gracing your dashs these days - who didn’t talk to me for well over a year, because I was “on the wrong side” when someone came out about them copying their OC.
The thing is, I didn’t even openly position myself on my blog or anything - and I very probably should have, but I had my head full with early Covid panic, homeschooling two kids and whatever else came with being a parent and an adult during the apocalypse and didn’t feel up to dealing with Tumblr drama on top of that - but for them it was enough that I was friends with their accuser and thus some people just stopped engaging with me at all.
And as we made up and got back talking, they made very clear that they had acted/reacted that way, because they were made to feel like this was expected of them in terms of “picking a side”.
This is what we mean when we say Maddie is weaponising their friends instead of owning up to the fact that maybe, probably sth isn’t a funny coincidence if it happens again and again… and again.

I don’t get why people hate immigrants so much… Like they’re literally just… People… From another location….
My partner is an immigrant from the UK and still holds his citizenship. At a recent event, an acquaintance talked about how many “immigrants” get jobs over “Canadians” and they shouldn’t allowed to be management (which my partner is). My partner reaches across the table and goes “Hi, immigrant here!” and she goes “Oh I didn’t mean immigrants like you…” And you can so tell they just mean “brown people” or “Asian people” but they pretend it’s about jobs and shit.
That’s the same with my family. We were war immigrants from the soviet union and now live in Germany. Now the syrians are here because they also have war, and people keep asking me why I’m defending them so mercilessly. And when I tell them that my family (that is still alive) has gone through the same bullshit. But they insist that both scenarios are completely different. They’re not different, you’re just racist.
