Din hasn’t told anyone yet that the Armorer exiled him for removing his helmet, and finally confesses to Cara.  Post-TBobF; Caradin.

Din stared at the ceiling, perfectly content, idly playing with Cara’s hair between his fingers as she lay against his chest.  He couldn’t see her right now because of the helmet’s limited range of vision, but he knew she looked so beautiful, a smile on her face, eyes half-lidded in post-coital bliss.  Not for the first time, he wondered what she would look like without the visor between them, nothing altering his vision, just her unfiltered.  And he wondered what she would think if she could see him, unmasked, no helmet to hide his face.

But he’d sworn the Creed.  He’d sworn to never remove his helmet or have it removed by others.  And he’d followed that vow religiously.  Until…

Then you are a Mandalorian no more.

“She said I wasn’t a Mandalorian.”

“What?”  Cara sat up a bit, enough that he could see her, her black hair cascading over her bare shoulders.  “Bo-Katan being a piece of nerf dung again?”

He hadn’t told anyone yet.  Not Boba, or even Peli, no matter how the shame had burned in his chest for weeks and weeks now.  He couldn’t hold it in anymore.  “I found my covert, and the Armorer.”

“That lady in the gold helmet, right?  Did they escape Nevarro after all?”

“It was just her and Paz.  Only two of them made it out.”

“Only two… so few… but that’s good, right?” Cara said, leaning on her elbow.  “They could be allies, help you in reclaiming Mandalore.  You won’t have to rely so much on Bo-Katan.”

Din swallowed.  He hadn’t said the words out loud until now.  Saying it out loud somehow made it so much more final.

Cara tilted her head, looking down at him, her brow gently furrowed.  “Din?  What’s wrong?”

“I… I had to tell her.  That I’d taken my helmet off.  She exiled me.”

“What?!”  Cara sat up ramrod straight, outraged.  “She exiled you?!  But it was one time, to say good-bye to Grogu!  You didn’t even know if you’d see him again then!”

“It doesn’t matter.  I broke the Creed.”

“It was only one time!  Didn’t you tell her you wouldn’t even let me take it off when you thought you were going to die?!”

“It was… actually more than one time,” Din said, looking away.

“Look, I never knew if IG-11 removed your helmet, no one does, and he was a droid anyway, right?  Does it really count?  Besides, he’s gone now.”

“It wasn’t just IG-11,” says Din, not wanting to think of his bleeding head and the heat of the flames and the terror of believing he would die alone with only the small hope of his son and friends being safe.  “Mayfeld saw me.  Imperials too.  The Imperial terminal, I had to take off my helmet.”

“What?”  Cara stared at him, eyebrows creasing together sympathetically.  “But Mayfeld was supposed to do it.”

“He couldn’t.  There was an officer he served under who might recognize him.  I had to…”  He still saw it in his dreams sometimes, the stale cold breeze from a wheezing air conditioner on his cheeks, the too-bright light from outside making his eyes ache without the shade of a visor, voices so harsh and too loud without the helmet’s audio filters.  Valin Hess’ eyes boring into him, feeling like he was memorizing every inch of his bare face so that it would never be a sacred secret of the Creed again.

“After he mocked you about wearing the armor?  And I let him go…” Cara said aloud, her face already narrowing into a murderous look.

“No,” he told Cara.  “No, he was… respectful about it.”

Cara gave him a look of disbelief.  “I know,” Din said.  “I didn’t expect it either.”

“But that was for Grogu too!” Cara burst out, back to her first source of outrage on his behalf.  “Didn’t she say that was the Creed too, that Grogu was in your care?  Isn’t that part of your Res- Raise-all-nar-ay?”

“The Resol’nare, yes,” Din said.

“So how can one part of the Creed not override another if they conflict?  You would’ve failed to rescue Grogu if you hadn’t taken off your helmet!  Isn’t that a worse way to break it, letting anyone hurt your son?” Cara said, infuriated.

Din looked up at her as she kept ranting, suddenly filled with a swell of affection.  Cara had terrible Mando’a pronunciation, but ever since he’d found her a translator program, she’d been trying to learn.  She had her Marshal duties, but in between her shifts she was gathering any information she could to help him with Mandalore.  Even right now, with nothing on her but a blanket, she still looked ready to fistfight anyone who dared insult him.  Just for him.  Even the Armorer, the best warrior and the leader of his tribe, just because she had exiled him.

“Would she have preferred you come back with Grogru gone and you never having removed your helmet?!” Cara continued, her voice raising louder and louder.  “That’s ridiculous.”

“It’s the Creed, Cara,” he said when she finally paused for breath.  “I made a vow, and I broke it.”

“It’s not fair!” Cara protested.  “You told me you brought so much to your tribe, all the money you could, always saving some for the foundlings.  You’ve done everything she ever asked of you, you’ve protected Grogu and your people, you wear your armor with pride, you’re one of the best fighters I’ve ever met, and believe me I met a lot in the Rebellion.  I know you speak your language and right now you’re trying to reclaim Mandalore from your people.  What more does she want?  Is all that really worth throwing out because you took off your helmet three times, all of them when you absolutely had to?”

He reached out to smooth her brow, tuck her hair behind her ears, mulling over her words.  “I don’t know.”

“I may not be a Mandalorian, but I know you are,” Cara said earnestly.  “Helmet or no helmet.  You’re one here.”  She ducked down, pressing a kiss to his sternum, where the kar’ta beskar on his armor would be.  “You follow the Resol’nare and you care for your people, all of them, especially the foundlings.  You’re trying to reclaim your homeland so your people won’t be scattered through the galaxy anymore.  You are Mandalorian, every inch of you.”

She was looking at him, so clearly meaning every word.  Din hadn’t thought he could love her any more, but she was always surprising him.

Cara had never once asked him to remove the helmet, except in the Nevarro cantina when he was dying and she wanted to try and save him.  He’d never kissed her and she’d never asked, never said a word of disappointment about it, even in jest.  But right now the choice was crystal clear.  Suddenly it was perfectly easy, perfectly right.  He reached up to remove his helmet.

Cara grabbed his wrists.  “What are you doing?!”

Din had to stifle a chuckle.  “Weren’t you just saying it didn’t matter if I had the helmet on or not?”

“For your worth as a Mandalorian!  But you said you vowed.  It’s important to you!”

“Yes, it is.  Cara -”  He sat up, taking her hands in his.  “Cara, it is important to me.  And you’ve always recognized that and respected that.  You didn’t even look at me on Gideon’s bridge, when I said good-bye to Grogu.”

“Of course I didn’t,” she said indignantly.  “That was private, for you and Grogu.”

“And right now you’ve supported my own choice, even when my own tribe didn’t.”  It hurt to say, but it was cathartic.  “You accept me for who I am.  No matter what.”

“Of course I do,” Cara said, more softly.  “I don’t need to see your face.  You don’t have to prove anything to me.”

“It’s my choice,” he said, quietly, then more firmly, “It’s my choice.  Every other time I had to show my face it was from being backed into a corner.  Even with Grogu, I didn’t get to choose when or where I showed him my face.  But I want to choose now.  I want you to see me.”

Cara looked at him, then nodded.  “As long as it’s what you want.”

“It is.”  He was sure now.  He reached up, lifting the helmet off and setting it aside, and finally there was nothing between them.

Cara tilted her head a bit, studying him.  He felt his cheeks warm already against the ship’s cool air.  He knew no one would ever look at him if he was standing next to someone as stunning as her, but he hoped he was at least adequate for her.

A smile spread across Cara’s face as she reached out to cup his cheek.  “I always wondered if you had a beard under there.”

“With the helmet, it’s a pain if I don’t keep it trimmed,” he said, shivering a little at her touch and leaning into her warm hand at the same time.

Her thumb stroked against his stubble before reaching down, tracing his bottom lip.  “I like it,” Cara said softly.

He cupped her hand with his, pressing his cheek into her hand.  She had a soldier’s hands; he’d felt the pattern of calluses and scars and smoothness everywhere else, but never before on his face, and it was like she was touching his skin for the first time again.  Her other hand traced his eyebrows, his forehead, and her fingers ran through his hair.

“You’re perfect,” Cara said, smiling softly at him.

Din couldn’t help it.  He smiled back, and her smile only got bigger in return.

“I want to kiss you,” Cara said.

Din nodded, his heart leaping in his chest against a sudden bout of shyness.  “I’ve actually never…”

“Then it’s my privilege to be the first,” said Cara.  She leaned forward, and her lips met his, and Din was completely certain that whether he kept his tribe’s Creed or forged his own, he had made the right choice.

Hello it’s me again I just want to know who I need to write a letter to to get known transphobe Gina Carano replaced by known non-binary royalty Sara Ramirez on The Mandalorian

I. Will. Not. Stop. Until. I’ve. Made. This. Happen.

Oh, hey, it’s me again! Here with reasons why Sara Ramirez should be Cara Dune on The Mandalorian and NOT known transphobe, Gina Carano

Reason 1:

These photos. On the left is Sara Ramirez in all their glory, and on the right is the original concept art for Cara Dune

After having watched The Mandalorian Chapter 15 I can conclude, without a doubt, that the reason Din Djarin wears a helmet 24/7 is that he is FAR too powerful without it
