LIVE

You and Sad Eyes had been a summer fling where you caught real feelings and you confessed at the end of the summer and he said he felt the same so the fling turned into an actual relationship. However, it all changed when he stopped staying over at your place and started calling you at 3 am with the same words in the same slurred voice.

“Hey, baby,” Sad Eyes chuckled through the phone, “You know, I think you could be the one,”

“Yeah,” you sighed, “good night, JuJu,”

You hung up and stared at the ceiling with your heart slowly breaking because this was a different part of Sad Eyes that was showing. Maybe, just maybe, he was in love with what he saw on the outside rather than seeing what was inside. It wasn’t fair to you because you had stuck by his side and tried everything to get him to feel better and relax. By this point, there were thoughts of somebody in Sad Eyes’ life that made him happy, happier than you ever made him because if it was that then you would still be happy for him.

“He needs to just tell me and be straight up instead of trying to hurt me and burn me,” you felt a tear cascade down your face as you softly spoke to yourself.

More time passed and now the two of you were practically broken up with no form of contact that were being made from him. You think back at how summer went and you immediately thought that the relationship shouldn’t even have happened, now it was getting closer to your birthday and you, finally, get a call from Sad Eyes.

“Hey, preciosa,” Sad Eyes whispered into the phone, “your birthday is coming up. What do you got planned?”

“I-” you were about to say that you got a lot of love and trust for him, but you stopped as you realized what you were going to say, “I’m going out with my friends,”

“Cool,” Sad Eyes said, “hey, listen, I just wanted to call and say feliz cumpleanos,”

Time had passed and you had moved on with your life and focused on school and work to the point where you were able to graduate early and get your Bachelor’s in Business so you opened your own business and earned money. Sad Eyes, on the other hand, got tired of relying on drugs to get his money, though a lot, he risked his life. His thoughts had drifted off to you, realizing all you had done for him, but he was pulled out of it when Oscar patted his shoulder at the party he was at so he accepted the beer and got back into conversations with his friends that were pretty much everyone at the party. They were your friends too, but you were so busy with your booming business that they forgot about you and just went their own way, separate from yours.

A few hours later, he was drunk and in front of your new house that wasn’t far from your parents’ so he knocked on the door. You begrudgingly opened the door and glared at the man that stood on your porch, “Sad Eyes, it is 3 am and I have an early morning tomorrow, what are you doing here?”

“I wanted to visit,” Sad Eyes smiled at you, “I wanted to talk,”

You rolled your eyes and opened the door for him to come in and sleep it off since it was 3 am. He walked in and sat on the couch and patted the spot next to him, “come sit, mama,”

“What?” You plopped yourself on the couch.

“Remember when-” Sad Eyes started, but you cut him off, “no, I am not doing this. Go to sleep and leave tomorrow morning,”

You were the oldest of the Diaz family by three minutes. Oscar’s twin who took care of both him and Cesar to the best of your ability. Oscar had gotten jumped into the Santos while, after you graduated, you got three jobs while still going to community college so you could keep up with everything that everybody needed and wanted. When Oscar brought around Sad Eyes, you immediately welcomed him in with some homemade food that you and Oscar learned how to cook not too long ago and offered him some. That was the whole relationship between the two of you until you finally got your Associate’s Degree and was able to quit two of the three jobs and get a good paying job that needed someone of your degree. This had led to having more time for yourself and the house.

You were lounging around when Sad Eyes and Oscar walked in while laughing and you saw Sad Eyes as something more than not bad looking. It was his laugh and the way he smiled at you so you just shook your head free of it and went into the kitchen to cook for the four of you since Cesar was out right now.

“What y’all wanna eat? I’m cooking,” you called out.

“‘Mana, I got it,” Oscar said, “lil miss thang over here finally settled with two jobs and still gets paid like she got three,”

“Shut up,” you laughed, “but if you wanna cook, I ain’t stoppin’ you. I’ll play on the playstation,”

“Oh, bet,” Sad Eyes spoke up, “I bet I can beat you on Call of Duty,”

“Oh, really,” you smirked as you crossed your arms, “alright, hundred bucks says I beat you,”

“Fine,” Sad Eyes smirked back at you.

The two of you sat on the couch, pretty close to each other, as Oscar put a penny of his thoughts on who would win. “My money’s on (Y/N),”

“What?!” Sad Eyes turned and playfully glared at his best friend.

“She’s weirdly good, mano,” Oscar shrugged and went back into the kitchen.

When the game finally started, you were on the same team and decided to play on who had the most kills. Immediately, you came out blazing as you shot people left and right, even shanking someone when you ran out of bullets while Sad Eyes was shocked, but tried to push the controller out of your hands.

“Hey! No cheating!” you laughed as you did the same exact thing to him.

“I ain’t cheating, princesa,” Sad Eyes laughed.

“Oye!” Oscar’s voice was heard, “stop that flirting shit! I get it y’all like each other, but damn y’all make me wanna shoot myself,”

“Oscar!”

“Spooky!”

Oscar’s laugh was heard as you blushed a deep red along with Sad Eyes so you turned your attention back to the screen and saw that you were MVP of the game so you stood up and did a happy dance, “Suck it, Sad Eyes! Pay the fuck up,” you giggled as you put your hand out.

Cesar walked in as Sad Eyes groaned and passed you a hundred, “what’s going on?”

“Sad Eyes, here, challenged our (Y/N) on Call of Duty and got his ass beat,” Oscar said.

Cesar winced, “you really made that mistake?”

“How was I supposed to know?!” Sad Eyes thrust his arms up.

“Oh, and they like each other and will probably end up dating soon,” Oscar yelled, “be ready for the endless amounts of PDA and vomit coming from me,”

“I swear to God I am moving out soon,” you mumbled as you covered your face.

“No, you ain’t, fea. You love it here too much and you love Sad Eyes too much,” Oscar laughed again.

“At least I can invite Sad Eyes over and make some dirty ass noises as he claps my cheeks, feo,” you lifted a finger, “wait, I can do that here. I can do it in your room too. Thanks for the idea, Oscar,”

Oscar rushed into the living room, “do that shit and I will kill you,” Cesar groaned at your speech as Sad Eyes stared at you, “food’s ready, anyway, nasties,”

Oscar and Cesar walked away to the dining table while Sad Eyes turned to you and immediately put a hand on your hip and pulled you to him to plant a forceful kiss. By the time you were done you were dazed and confused on what just happened.

He leaned closer to your ear, “You’re leaving with me and you’re gonna make them nasty ass noises tonight at my place. Get ready after we’re done here,”

You wordlessly nodded as he wrapped an arm around your shoulder and pulled you with him to eat dinner.
