yes reki has to apologize to miya for breaking his promise and not being a good friend but miya also has to realize that his teasing contributed to reki’s declining self-worth. hes 13 so its understandable that he doesnt realize it but like. there should still be some acknowledgment of his and shadow’s behaviour not being okay. tbh im not even hoping for an apology, id be happy if they for once just told reki to his face that he’s good at skateboarding without insulting him

LANGA HASEGAWA knows a lot about children’s tv shows. like sitcoms and stuff. back in canada, it was a bit of a tradition to watch the saturday morning cartoons with his dad. he knows a lot of stupid jokes from like dora, toopy and binoo, pingu, the big red couch, that kind of thing. but also sitcoms like icarly, victorious, drake and josh were tokens of his childhood along with hannah montana and suite life of zack and cody. he just liked watching them because that’s when his parents saw him actually show emotion.

REKI KYAN has a lot of knowledge about five nights at freddy’s. he had a markiplier, jacksepticeye & pewdiepie phase. he was there for the pink mustache and probably has a plush of septic eye sam in his closet behind spare skateboards. he was so intrigued by five nights at freddy’s and i feel like he would be more engrossed in the whole mechanical side of things how how the animatronics work because wo a h. bit of a bonus, but also a bit of a given, i feel like he knows a lot about cars. how they work, how they run, how to take care of them. that kinda thing

KAORU SAKURAYASHIKI knows a lot about fashion and clothing. he knows what looks good, what doesn’t look good, what’s in style and what’s not in style. THAT BEING SAID HE KNOWS A LOT ABOUT REALITY TV. listen listen listen- he watches rupaul’s dragrace and i do not take criticism. he loves watching the cat fights, the fashion challenges, he thinks it’s absolutely wild and i fucking love the idea of cherry being entirely into reality tv like house hunters or queer eye. KING SHIT

KORJIRO NANJO knows a lot about old music. like i’m talking beatles, queen, disco, techno, you name it, he 1000% has a record for it (bc he has a record player at home). i see him as an old soul who knows a lot of older classics like elvis and other. please pass him the aux cord when you’re driving with him, he has the perfect music for everything. he much prefers old tunes that you can dance to, whether it’s swing dancing or slow dancing, i just see him as very joyful and it’s an aspect of his personality that grabs the attention of the ladies too

HIROMI HIGA knows a lot about skincare. hey man, he can’t have his skin breaking out under all that goth makeup now can he? he moisturizes, has a proper routine he follows every single day. if you ask him about it, he will go OFF on what’s best to treat your skin for what you want to achieve. he knows how to take care of himself and will make sure you’re taking care of yourself too. like he just knows the names of chemicals in certain lotions and shit and it’s like “bro wtf” but he really does pay attention to those things. it’s not “clown makeup”, it’s hiromi™ approved

MIYA CHINEN knows a lot about figurines. like where to buy them, how to clean them and make sure they’re all in pristine shape. he has a lot of amiibos (those figures they have for nintendo switches) and other miscellaneous figures like pop vinyls and nendoids for his favourite video game & anime characters. they’re all decorated around his room and he’ll tell you where he got the best deals and how rare each of them are. miya also knows a lot about the dream smp, i don’t think i have to explain myself there

SK8 Love Masquerade Seiyuu Event – 07/04/2021 Afternoon

Seiyuu Cast:

■ INTRODUCTION

• Reki and Langa did the intro (voice over only), where they issued guidelines before the start of the event like not being allowed to eat in the venue (which saddened Langa), and having to turn off their phones (Reki took care of turning off his phone and Langa’s). Langa also had a hard time reading some kanji in the guidelines and Reki helped him.
• The event of course starts with Adam, appearing in a VTR welcoming everyone to the masquerade. He calls “Langa-kun and the others” to enter the stage. Throughout the event, Adam appears through the VTR as the host of the masquerade.
• The seiyuus appeared with masks on (but eventually took them off when they spoke).

■ “OUR INFINITE TALK” CORNER

A “video message” from Koyasu appears as an introduction, though the only thing shown on the video is his mask on top of a table.

Question #1: Since Sk8 is an original anime, you did the acting without knowing how the story would go later on. What development particularly surprised you?

● Koyasu: I didn’t expect that Adam would be THIS amazing as a character. I really loved Adam. (VTR shows Adam in the last ep in his funeral outfit and skateboard)

● Nagatsuka: That Langa is TOO good. I thought it would be a story about Reki and Langa moving up the ladder together, but Reki was eventually left out.

● Hatanaka: I was surprised about what happened to Hiromi getting beaten up later on.

Kobayashi: I was surprised that he would end up getting along with everyone, like he’s gotten the Mom role now.

Midorikawa: He’s indeed gotten cuter towards the end.

Matsumoto: We were talking in the backstage earlier how there would be a spin-off where the Manager falls in love with Shadow (not Hiromi).

Hatanaka: But the Manager was shown with someone else in the last ep

Miyake: I’m sure that’s just one of their relatives!

● Kensho (appearing through a VTR where he’s in his Tadashi outfit): Didn’t expect that Adam and Kikuchi grew up and have lived together since they were little, and that Kikuchi is actually older than Adam. I never thought that I’d ever get to play a role who’s older than Koyasu’s (Note: irl Koyasu is 54, Kensho is 31 yrs old)

Question #2: What about SK8 shocked you the most?

● Matsumoto: I thought SK8 would be more about sports, but it turned out to be really crazy! I honestly thought like, “What the hell is the director thinking?”

● Nagatsuka: I was surprised that even getting off the skateboard is counted. Well, there’s Joe who rode using his hands, which in a way is still considered riding, but Adam got off and even hit someone with a skateboard.

● Hatanaka: And even when someone gets hit the people around were just calm about it like it’s something normal

● Midorikawa: But hitting others is bad! That’d hurt A LOT! Moreover, at first I was thinking that the exhibition moves like Love Hug is impossible irl, but Cherry sometimes would give explanations so that’s interesting and made me think that it might actually be possible.

● Matsumoto: But Joe’s style is really unbelievable! I tried it at home (“Rocket style” but with no skateboard) but it was impossible!

● Director Utsumi (answer is shown on-screen): When I received the first draft written by scriptwriter Ookouchi, I was surprised that Kikuchi answers Adam with “Wan!” in the last ep. (Note: Wan! is a dog sound in Jpn) In the end it was replaced with “Hai! (Yes)”.

*The seiyuu cast then rewatched the scene in the event.

Cast: Now the only thing we can hear is Kikuchi saying, “Wan!”

Question #3: If you can have Carla for a day, what would you ask her to do?

● Hatanaka: I want her to tell me to “Calm down, Hatanaka-san” whenever I get nervous. I want her to get mad or control me. (The cast laughs at his wordings because of the possible implied meanings)

● Kobayashi: I want Carla to guide me because I get lost easily.

Matsumoto: Just use your phone!

Midorikawa: That doesn’t have to be Carla, you know.

● Midorikawa: I want Carla to guide me during recordings, saying things like, “Your next line is coming in 3, 2, 1…” or “For the next line, you should put more emotions”.

Question#4: Which character unexpectedly got more/less screen time?

● Kobayashi: The glasses girl voiced by Hayami Saori. She appears in a few episodes and I thought she would have an important role to play later on, but nothing happened.

● Nagatsuka: I was curious to know more about Harry.

● Hatanaka: I was thinking that Reki actually didn’t skate that much throughout the anime.

● Matsumoto: Midorikawa and I were thinking that Reki doesn’t seem much like a protagonist.

■ LIVE VOICE ACTING CORNER

• Adam asks the seiyuus to reenact the scenes again,
• Reenacted eps:
• #2: Joe-Cherry bickering scene, Langa going to Reki’s garage scene
•  #6: Skating scene when they arrived in Okinawa, Reki-Langa “I will protect you” scene, “Papa” Joe scene
• #8 Shadow vs Snake scene
• #7 Reki-Langa “breakup” scene
• #10 Reki-Miya Hospital scene, Reki-Langa reconciliation scene
• Hatanaka and Kobayashi did the Infinity bump (with proper social distancing)
• The Palm trees aka ED was played/shown at the end of the corner
• Reki and Langa were having a talk after. Langa said that he also wanted to hear Adam’s scenes again. Reki then said that he also wanted to hear the “Love hotel guy” too.

Langa: Ah, Reki you never gave any explanation about the love hotel incident.

Reki: Okay! Let’s just go and impersonate Adam!

Langa: You’re dodging the question.

Reki (imitates Adam’s voice): Langa-kun! Love Hug!

Langa: No Reki, it’s “Love hug” (English accent)

Reki: That’s not the point!

Langa: Okay, I’ll go next (in impersonating Adam). Reki-kun! You’re lovelyyyy!!

Reki: That’s wrong! He’s not gonna say that!

■ LIVE PERFORMANCE CORNER

ASH DA HERO and Yuusuke perform the insert songs.

■ Announcements like Blu-ray and Goods promotion

• Host Club SK8 - Original Drama CD coming out
• Behind the Mask - Adam version coming out
• In the goods corner, Hatanaka took the Reki puppet, waved it and with a tiny voice , “Are you all having fun?”

Reki and Langa again did the voice over as guide at the end of the event. Langa is hungry after the event. When Reki asked him what he wants to eat,

Langa: Poutine, Ramen, Cake, Ice cream, Poutine…

Reki: That’s too much! You should have stopped at Poutine

Langa: Poutine isn’t enough.

In the Evening event, it was announced that sk8 will be having a

• Stage play adaptation
• New anime project

yall know that one figure skater yuzuru hanyu? like. theres a bunch of videos of him on tiktok and from personal experience people seem to just love him even if they’re not active fans of his. yeah i’d like to think that’s how miya is treated in the sk8 universe. like, mfing fan accounts and shit and if you showed someone a picture of him they’d go “oh it’s that guy! that uhh that cool skater i see everywhere!!”

daily reminder that if i am not thinking of sk8 the infinity character miya chinen, i am simply not thinking at all

no shut the fuck up because reki would 100% without a doubt go to joe to talk about his feelings for langa. he loves his mom, of course he does, but it just feels right to go to joe for this. i mean yknow considering his whole situation with kaoru and whatever

no cause here’s my very small but depressed list of sk8 characters and what mitski songs i associate them with

Miya: Nobody

i think the reasoning is really obvious but i’ll explain anyways. we get multiple scenes where miya clearly displays signs of having abandonment issues and by god he DEFINITELY cried to this after reki left him in the elevator. i feel fucking horrible too because a literal child shouldn’t have to feel so alone all the time.

Reki: Your Best American Girl

this isnt COMPLETELY accurate but i think its fairly accurate enough for his little depression arc thing. specifically the verse (?)

“You’re the sun, you’ve never seen the night

But you hear its song from the morning birds

Well, I’m not the moon, I’m not even a star

But awake at night I’ll be singing to the birds”

the song isn’t entirely about not being enough but a good part of it is and damn if the phrase “not being enough” doesnt remind me of reki’s arc then idk what does

Langa: First Love/Late Spring

this is the most farfetched i think but idk i just feel like he relies a lot on reki (not in a bad way ofc) in both canon and fanon. i don’t understand his character as well as i get miya and reki but, i still think he’s sad sometimes yknow. he just doesn’t understand it very well, therefore the line “Lately I’ve been crying like a / Tall child”
