✚Hospitality Doll✚

I just got my dream old school Meta set *-*.  Sorry for the crappy phone pics, I was just really excited about it!  It’s totally tacky, but in a good kind of way, like I’m a cutsey anime nurse lol.  It’s crazy short, so I’m really glad the set came with matching shorts.

Bullet through the sleeve? No problem for this push girl nicknamed “The Angel of the Battlefie

Bullet through the sleeve? No problem for this push girl nicknamed “The Angel of the Battlefield”. Clara Barton led a life that few others can match. She founded a school, held government posts in a male dominated era, fought for women’s suffrage, pushed for civil rights, bravely risked her life in giving medical treatment to soldiers, consulted foreign governments, and founded the American Red Cross. Phew! We’re tired just writing all that. Clara Barton, we dub you a Push Girl.

Tell your friend she’s got a little Clara Barton in her. Reblog now to give her a little push.

Dear Tumblr world,
Please reblog the following post about the disaster, Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia are facing right now and through that raise awareness! These countries need every help they can get!
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia are experiencing the worst floods in the last 120 years. Houses and bridges have been swept away. Many have died and a full-scale evacuation of thousands of people has been carried out. Improvised dams and embankments have been built in order to save people’s lives and infrastructure. Because of the horrifyingly high levels of water, landslides have appeared and destroyed everything in their way – houses, roads, bridges. Countless people have been evacuated and are now accommodated in sports halls, warehouses, etc. After the flood waters recede, people will have no home to go back to and the affected areas will face a serious health risk. Thousands of people are helping in mitigating the effects of this disaster.
I hereby ask you for your help: you can donate financially to the Ministries of Finance or the Red Cross in Serbia and BiH (http://helpfloodedserbia.org/donate/) and also reblog and share this information with others.

Show your humanity, show your support for the people who lost everything. At the end of the day, we are all the same, without gender, class or race. Human beings. Walking talking minerals.

Thank you,
Jovana Vukosavljevic

doli-nemae:

I tried to find posts here about shady situation around Red Cross EU but I couldn`t so here I am

First of all - WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK-

(Source:https://twitter.com/AFP/status/1506970185626165248?s=20&t=iLqB3y–VaQ6Y1Gj55jl_A)

Second of all - I`ll put here a thread in English that explains nicely situation:

Thread:https://twitter.com/vuwnevska/status/1506754241960026112?s=20&t=DCUHkUsXZnYcgL6684srBA

Also, the screenshots of posts used in first tweet:

Link to the first one: https://www.facebook.com/kolesnykmaria/posts/10225032077540629

One kind man from twitter translated it into English:

And I have to make one thing clear - I`m NOTasking you to stop donating to help Ukraine. I`m asking you to avoid shady charities that are trying to make money on your kindness and other peoples grief. And currently, it looks like Red Cross EU is trying to do that.

If you want to donate to help and save Ukraine - here`s a website in English with all links. Those money will go to help Ukraine.

AGAIN. EVERYONE WHO WERE DONATING - YOU`RE INCREDIBLE. I JUST ASK YOU TO BE VIGILANT AND DONATE THOSE WHO WILL USE YOUR MONEY FOR GOOD CAUSES.

Post by Mrs. Becerra - sharing the wisdom.

“Ok, I know this is a serious situation on Samoa and I can already see the “Let’s do something” calls by those of us abroad.
Wonderful thought but before you clear out your cupboard of old blankets and dash off to the warehouse to buy a pack of bottled water, sit down and read this:

Wait. Think. Before you do something.

Do NOT send goods. Do NOT send canned anything. Do not send anything unless it’s money, or something that is specifically requested and you can ensure it reaches the requestor without them paying the price fir it.
Do not hop on the plane to go help unless it’s your family.

Wait for the Samoan Government who will assess and establish what help is needed.

We see enough Good Samaritan who land at disaster zones who end up being a burden.
Stay home. Let Samoa help themselves or ask fir help first.

Your genuine willingness to help by giving goods ends up being the burden for others, or your goods end up rotting at the wharf or worse, more rubbish they didn’t need in the first place.

So,
- check out what Red Cross are doing. Help them so they can help those in need. You can also transfer direct to Red Cross.
- Be wary of politicians /community leaders - they have agendas, if you want to help a family back home, send direct to them.”

Never donate your money to the RED CROSS! And that’s why:

MerMay 28| Cross my heart

Switzerland is a neutral country, meaning that it doesn’t partake in wars nor side any particular party. They’ve been neutral since 1815, and kept out of the 2 world wars happening around it. To remain neutral, it is also not part of the EU.

If you’ve heard about the Red Cross, it was started by a swiss businessman named Henry Dunant. After witnessing the aftermath of the Battle of Solferino which left about 40,000 soldiers dead and dying in a single day with insufficient medical attendance and basic care, he abandoned his business plans and devoted himself to helping the treatment and care of the wounded. His humanitarian heart was too big for his own wealth to handle, using and giving all of his money to aid humanitarian efforts to the point of bankruptcy. For fifteen years after the scandal of his bankruptcy, he lived in obscurity and poverty, sleeping outdoors and living off bread crumbs. During his disappearance, the papers even presumed him dead. Years later, he was rediscovered living in a nursing home and co-awarded the first Nobel peace prize for his role in the founding of the International Red Cross Movement and initiating the Geneva Convetion. Despite receving the prize money, Henry Dunant spent none of it and continued staying in the humble hospice. Upon his death, he wanted no funeral, and bequeathed the prize money to charitable causes. This story melts my heart so much.

sepulchritude:

Hey Houston, Beaumont, and Lousiana folks, make sure you’re prepared for the hurricane

  • Stock up on water. You can use tupperware or empty milk jugs if you need to, and fill up your bathtub if you have one. If the water goes out, you don’t just need enough drinking water for every person and animal in your house, you need water to wash yourselves and flush your toilets
  • Figure out which room will be the safest if you need to shelter in place. You want somewhere with no windows, no outside walls, and a clear route of escape if you need to leave quickly. If nowhere is a perfect fit, prioritize things in that order: absolutely no windows, preferably no outside walls, and an easy escape route if you can
  • Put some of your water stash in your shelter room too in case the rest of your house becomes unsafe
  • Move anything that could conceivably bash a window off of your porch and out of your yard. Put it in the garage or bring it inside if you have to. Keep yourself and your neighbors safe, storm winds are no joke
  • Move anything that has to stay outside (like cars if they can’t go in a garage) as close to the house as possible so they’re at least somewhat shielded
  • Make sure your flashlights have batteries. If the power goes out, you don’t want to be using precious phone battery life just to see. Candles are also fantastic, especially for long-term outages, but have a working flashlight or two as well
  • Fill up your ice trays. You want plenty of ice in your freezer if the power goes out. You can freeze some of your water jugs too so you can drink them as they melt
  • Fill up your car if you can. Gas stations are probably pretty crazy right now but try your best, it’s only gonna get worse from here. Pick up a car charger while you’re there if you don’t have one
  • Charge your devices and unplug them if it looks like the power might go out soon. Electrical surge is a bitch
  • Unplug EVERYTHING or preferably just shut off your power if it might flood soon or if you evacuate. You know what sucks? Electrified flood water
  • Check your local news stations for updates. They’re on twitter too if you don’t have cable

Hurricane Laura is a category 4. For reference, Harvey was also a 4. Ike was a 2. Houston shouldn’t be getting hit as badly as Beaumont and Lousiana, but Harvey wasn’t supposed to hit us that bad either. Be prepared.

Stay safe y’all

Edit: Laura made landfall last night (8/26/2020) as a category 4 hurricane, just shy of a 5, and has decreased to a category 1 since then. Houston was almost completely unharmed, but east Texas and a lot of Lousiana were hit hard.We have no way of knowing how many are injured or dead this morning.

It’s been hard times for everyone this year, but if you have the ability to donate to the Red Cross or give blood, they really need it right now.
