@atla-side-character-week Day 4: Healing

[ID: Colored pencil art of Piandao and Jeong Jeong from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Piandao stands in profile, facing left. He wears his canon outfit - a high-collared black robe with gold trim at the collar and hem, baggy red pants, and black shoes. His chin is tilted down, and his eyes are closed. Jeong Jeong has his arms wrapped around Piandao, hands clasped in front of Piandao’s chest. He rests his head on the back of Piandao’s shoulders, and his eyes are also closed. He wears a long brown robe and brown boots.]

as a child, piandao was abandoned by his parents at a orphanage for being a nonbender. he grew up determined to prove that being a nonbender did not mean he was weak. it’s hard for him to show vulnerability, to allow himself to be cared for, even though he desperately craves the love he never got.

as a child, jeong jeong was a firebending prodigy. he grew up being molded into the cruel, aggressive man his nation wanted him to be. it’s hard for him to be gentle and kind, to care for others, even though he desperately wishes to heal rather than harm.

and so sometime after the war, piandao lets himself be cared for, and jeong jeong lets himself be caring. together, they heal.
