“The number one thing orgs and affinity groups should be preparing for in the near future is stockpiling goods and training their comrades for the masses of people who are being affected by this crisis. We need food, masks, medical supplies for COVID and other now overlooked diseases, water purification, etc etc!

We need to have TRAINED and ARMED comrades offer up securing for striking renters and working class mortgage payers withholding payments as well as protecting picket lines and striking workers.

We have to make such a massive mutual aid network and the task is daunting.”

“But, being anarchists, we will settle for nothing less than the demolition of all social hierarchies. Thus, things like rigid gender roles and norms, normative expectations around sexual practices, internalized racism, lack of social viability for the disabled, etc. must be swept into the dustbin of history with capitalism and the state as well. Some of these processes are going to require cultural and conceptual change, in addition to the institutional changes we seek in a revolutionary struggle. Anarchist free schools, spaces like infoshops, indymedia centers, and the like provide spaces for experimenting with new social and cultural forms. Through collective projects like these we get to experience non-hierarchical organization and culture in our bodies — demonstrating that other worlds are possible and introducing new ideas into our stifling, sick, and hierarchical culture. So, while mass organizing might be necessary for overturning the existing social order, our everyday lives must be transformed as well. Many counter-institutions that anarchists are currently building can serve as spaces for doing just that.”

Hey everyone!

I’ve gotten a lot of asks concerning an update of my bullet journal, so I thought I’d finally post about it.

If this looks different from my original post, it’s because it is; my original bullet journal that everyone loved was hijacked by a friend and put to good use, and then work took over and I had to switch to something more functional. Here’s what I eventually came up with!

It’s a simplified version of my original, made for functionality but still has neatness and class. It’s kept together by the Index page. When that first Index page gets full, I’ll start another on the last page. A lot of what you see has a bunch of Navy jargon on it, and you can probably tell that my days get kind of hectic. Either way, my journal keeps me straight.

Here’s a quick explanation:

• boxes = actionable items or events
• boxes w/ arrows = moved actionable items
• filled boxes = completed actionable items
• ‘x’ boxes = cancelled actionable items
• dashes = random information
• free arrows = consequential information (info accrued due to an action)
• hollow bullets = non-actionable events w/ specific date/time
• little clock = hard deadline or time dependent
• triangle w/ ‘!’ = ATTENTION/IMPORTANT
• circle w/ ‘?’ = need more info in order to complete

As you can see, it’s not only my to-do list, it’s also a very important notebook and calendar. I even draw and schedule and list things for when I plan trips and such. You don’t have to be creative, though I certainly like to be. You just have to be committed to the journal, and the journal will help you. Everything I ever need is in this journal.

If anyone else is interested in bullet journaling, please look it up on Google! I’d post the link again but it is difficult to do so on my phone.

ATTENTION: For those of you who struggle with organization and don’t like or don’t have time for planners, there is this wonderful google chrome app called My Study Life.
It gives you the ability to organize each of your classes and input exact times and locations for exams, assignments, lecture, etc.
You can also color-coordinate everything which is super useful if you’re a visual learner like me!

I highly recommend this app for anybody interested in improving their organizational abilities

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark“Enola Gay” from Organisation, 1980.

“Enola Gay” is an anti-war song and addresses the atomic bombing of Hiroshima by the aircraft Enola Gay on 6 August 1945, toward the conclusion of World War II. It was written by vocalist/bass guitarist Andy McCluskey. “Enola Gay” has been described—along with 1986’s “If You Leave"—as OMD’s signature song. The single was an international success, selling more than 5 million copies, while the track became an enduring hit.

Rules

1. Do not request smut or anything suggestive for members that are minors.

2. Do not request writings about rape or abuse - I am lucky to not have any traumatic experiences like that, but that also means I have no idea what that does to a person and their loved ones, so I don’t think it’s right for me to write about it.

My weekly bullet journal-esque planner. I have to be mindful of things like rest and self-care, so I deliberately make space for them. I should have a fair bit of academic reading, research, and writing, this week and next. Setting up my “to do” and “to done” pages in my bullet journal. I love filling in this boxes on the right. It really shows me what I do in a day and helps avoid the dreaded, “I’m terrible, I’ve done nothing, I’m a lazy worm” feeling. It’s not perfect yet, I’d like it to be more visually appealing, but it works, and that’s what matters. #bulletjournal #bujo #bulletjournallove #planning #planner #planningprojects #plannersofinstagram #instaplanner #handwriting #organisation #studyhard #studyspo #gradschoollife #organising #plannerlove

Spring Semester-May 13th

My brain decided to fully wake me up at 6 am on my only day off, so now it’s 4 pm and I’m bored because I don’t really want to study any more.

So, I’ve done laundry, tidied my flat, read (Melanie Murphy’s Fully Functioning Human (almost) and Becky Albertalli’s Leah on the Off Beat (it’s as good as SVTHSA, it’s insane!)), thought of/planned/wrote yet another paper on harpies (5 pages this time), tried to find a subject for my masculinity paper (I think I’m gonna go with Brooklyn Nine-Nine in the end, never mind that I already did an assignment on Terry Crews for this class). I also did some self care, aka face mask and hair mask. To be honest, now that Years & Years is soon done playing in my flat, I shall go back to my reading nook (aka my bed, a plaid, and pillows) and continue LOTOB.

Have a nice Sunday, and ‘til next Sunday/my next day off
