#note to self
You should absolutely put ‘eat lunch’ and 'drink water’ on your to do lists.
the other day, one of my newer friends told me that she knew she wanted to be friends with me when a group of us were talking in a big circle and i backed up a little bit so she could be apart of the circle instead of outside of it. i didn’t even remember doing that and it just goes to show that small gestures and acts of kindness go such a long way and can completely transform someone else’s life. the cherry on top is that these things tend to have a snowball effect, and it can transform your life in ways you could never imagine, so go make someone’s day
“I couldn’t find any pictures that are-” is a very lousy excuse to whitewash PoC. There are plenty of PoC models, stock images, and editorials out there. You just have to find it. Here are some of the blogs that are dedicated to PoC editorials/models that I follow. Feel free to add and suggestion more.
Tonl is a site with good stock photos with diverse models as well!

at least that’s what everyone keeps telling me.
Be proud of the ones you still have hope
Be proud of the ones who are still trying
Be proud of the ones who refuse to give up
Praying that their is a beautiful future waiting for them.
I keep wanting to live my life in the past while everyone else is heading towards the future.
All the while I miss out on the goods things I have right in front of me in the present.
Try not to isolate yourself when you’re going through a hard time. Often times, people who self-isolate when they’re struggling were children who had to solve all of their problems on their own.
There’s a difference between healthy alone time, which is intentional, a space where you can process peacefully vs. isolation (especially as a self-sabotage method or way of punishing yourself) where you detach from loved ones and from spaces that bring you happiness in reaction to intense stress or being overwhelmed.
Try to notice if you’re feeling overly self-critical, lonely, and anxious in these periods of isolation and if so, do your best to reach out for help or connect with someone. You don’t deserve to overextend yourself for everyone else to the point of burning yourself out all the time! You deserve some help, and love, too!
I don’t know what writer needs to hear this
but you can write something very plain.
You don’t have to write some genre-redefining masterpiece. You can write a story about two people very simply falling in love. You can just write a story about a person going to the store. You could, if you were so inclined, just re-write Star Wars but like, make all the names start with M.
Don’t let the fear of not-writing something transcendent stop you from just writing.
You might get uninspired, but you will always find inspiration again. You might fall off track, but you will always pull yourself up and give it another try. You might feel far behind, but you will look back and see all of the progress you’ve already made. Life is filled with highs and lows. They dance with each other in harmony, and lead you to exactly where you need to go. Let the waves teach you and guide you.
Sometimes, the person you think they’d be, aren’t the actual person they are. And that’s expectation. And that’s how it breaks you.
