this may be something ill expand upon later but the avatar state is more than just the ultimate form of power.

because aang is afraid of his power, and the avatar state is often a manifestation of his anger, mastering the avatar state means mastering the fear and anger that lead to/come with it.

the problem is that Aang doesn’t master the avatar state by the end of the series. he doesn’t let go of katara, a rock unblocks his chakra for him (or something?? still not sure where they were going with that). Even in the comics (i hate using those as canon but they’re the only post-canon i have) aang doesn’t have control over the avatar state. this means that he doesn’t have control over his negative emotions either.

mastering the avatar state didn’t mean losing katara; it meant gaining control over himself and his emotions so he’s never afraid of his power again.

One of the funniest things ever is when people are like “Katara needs Aang to calm her down!! Zuko can’t give her that!!!!”

Meanwhile Kataras relationship with Aang is like:

And Aang basically completely fails to make her calm down? Like when she was angry at Toph he only made her angrier, when she’s angry during TSR he only makes her angrier. It’s almost like nothing can calm Katara (except maybe justice) down bc she is actually in charge of her own emotions or something. And Aang is actually the one who needs other people to calm him down (which makes sense; he is, after all, 12).

Alright time for me to gush about some of my favorite outfits

Starting with her! I love it. Why?

First of, as someone obsessed with fencing I love the fact that her weapon is both a sewing needle and an épée. It’s not quite a rapier (that’s what Sasara uses) but still very cool and creative.

Her jacket looks so comfortable yet non restrictive in her movement and it really compliments her short hair. Her soul gem being used as decoration for her choker fills up just the right amount of space between her jacket and corset.

Her corset really compliments her outfit as it’s more stylish than sexy (take notes Temari and Masara). The combination of her jacket and corset reminds me of a blazer and a blouse but with a stylish twist.

Her shorts are also really creative in the way that at first look it seems like a skirt but is actually a comfortable pair of shorts. The belt really makes this look like an actual outfit consisting of several pieces instead of just one big costume (does that make sense? Probs not). Her thigh highs are nothing special, but I love the little pattern that resembles a sewing.. well… pattern.

It seems like she has a ribbon on her back which is fine since it’s a contrast to her short clothes and should make her outfit more interesting when seem from behind.

The only thing I would change is the length of the black gloves which should stop at her cuffs. I’m also not quite sure about her hat but it works for Kanoko so I’ll give it a pass

So yeah I like it a lot. Byee

Summer solstice reading orgy!

I saw someone say that they disliked Avengers: Endgame in a video the other day and they thought it wasn’t that good of a movie. The comments were full of people blindly exclaiming how they thought Endgame was one of the best movies they’ve ever seen.

I mean, I watched both Endgame and Infinity War in theaters and at the time of watching it? I thought they were amazing, I loved watching them in theaters, and afterwards had a blast talking about it with my friends.

But then I look back on how it mutilated so many of my favorite characters and the whole way the cast was kept nearly entirely blind of the script to avoid spoilers and I think… maybe we don’t need a repeat of these movies, you know?

You can produce great content without the whole “keeping everyone in the dark to avoid spoilers” thing. I mean, look at WandaVision? I know it’s different because it’s a television show, but it had so many mysteries and plot twists and the cast knew what they were getting into— heck, part of the fun was going back and connecting the foreshadowing from the past episodes. I’ll admit that I don’t know much about what happened behind the scenes of WandaVision or even TFATWS, but it seems like a healthier way to film Marvel content?

Buckingham Palace calling the issues of Meghan and Harry “concerning” and the Royal family being “saddened” is such BS. In their defense, nothing they say at this point would really help them.

I mean, as an American I fully understand that I don’t get a say in this conversation, but It makes me pretty mad. 

When I heard about their wedding I thought “oh cool, this is neat” but hearing how the tabloids have been tearing into Meghan, and the double standards issued to her vs Kate really bites.  And hearing how the institution handled it all was even worse. 

And then not giving Archie a title when all the other great grandchildren have one? What the heck was up with that?

Between this and the controversy with The Crown, I kinda hope the Royal Family doesn’t recover from this one. From what I hear, they’ve been snowballing for a while now anyway.

I’m curious to hear how actual people from the UK feel about the interview. And could someone explain the title thing with Archie?

Encanto’s “Toxic” Family

I’ve seen a couple people jump to condemn Encanto for “pushing a narrative that you have to forgive and stick with your toxic family.”

People who have completely missed all the messages of the movie.

“All of You” alone is a metaphor for how the family needed to rework their relationships to come together again.

“Look at this home, we need a new foundation

…

It isn’t perfect, but neither are we”

The whole movie is a journey where they deconstruct generational trauma. It’s not a perfect analogy, but it’s also like, a two hour film.

Of course, you don’t have to forgive your family if you don’t want to (regardless of how much trauma they’ve given you) because that’s your own personal decision, but this movie is definitely not the one you turn your ire on for having a “toxic” narrative.

I want to go into a deep dive of this later, but I just had to quickly get this out of my head.

It’s Ironic that the guy who gave us one of the most horrific endings in all of anime gives us one of the most beautiful endings in all of manga, as it is quite unexpected that the last panel would show Griffith tearing up while speaking to Guts, which makes this cliffhanger much more than satisfying and unsatisfying but eternally eerie.
