@northern-storms

This song has vibes of drinking the night before battle with your friends, knowing that most of you wont make it

(I would have liked to crop some of these gifs (like the accent ones) to make them more accurate but alas, I lack the skills.)

The term “colophony” for rosin comes from the term colophonia resina, that is, resin from the pine trees of Colophon, which was highly valued for the strings of musical instruments.

Guys.  Stop what you’re doing and look at these unbelievable charts made by asthebelltolls, who allowed me to share them with all of you.  Send love their way, because this is gorgeous and fabulous!  Thank you SO MUCH!

all right tagamemnon I’ve got a question

anybody know of any good songs with classics-related or classics-inspired lyrics?

Thrice- Daedalus (but son, please keep a steady wing/and know you’re the only one that means anything to me/steer clear of the sun, or you’ll find yourself in the sea)

Florence + The Machine - Rabbit Heart (this is a gift, it comes with a price/who is the lamb and who is the knife?/Midas is king and he holds me so tight/and turns me to gold in the sunlight)

Florence + The Machine- What the Water Gave Us (and oh, poor Atlas/the world’s a beast of a burden/you’ve been holding up a long time/and all this longing/and the ships are left to rust/that’s what the water gave us)

Estampie- O Fortuna (an arrangement of the poem from the Carmina Burana) (o fortuna, velut luna, statu variabilis/semper crescis aut decrescis; vita detestabilis/nunc obdurat, et tunc curat, ludo mentis aciem/egestatem, potestatem, dissolvit ut glaciem)

Dark Sanctuary- Memento Mei (memento mei, quia ventus est vita mea,
nec aspiciat me visus hominis;/de profundis clamavi ad te domine,
exaudi vocem meam)

A Perfect Circle - Orestes (this song has pretty creepy lyrics, but given the subject matter…) (gotta cut away, clear away/snip away and sever this/umbilical residue/keeping me from killing you)

Egyptian Female Musicians

Women entertainers for a party. Atop their heads are a cake of scented grease, which during the evening would gradually melt and anoint the face and neck, giving great pleasure.

This is a faithful reproduction paintings found on the wall of an ancient Egyptian tombs. Funded by the Metropolitan Museum of Art at the beginning of the 20th century.

I’m so sick of people thinking they can just waltz into my room when I’m obviously listening to music in 4/4.

I just wanted to reblog this again because I find it inordinately funny.
