#montgomery scott
Jim likes going down to engineering to check up on his chief engineer when things are slow going up at the bridge <3333
Crew Members’ Greatest Replicator Crimes:
Scotty: On Robbie Burns Day, replicator mysteriously only produced haggis or vegan haggis
Bones:Secretly replicates plomeek soup when he thinks Spock isn’t looking because he actually really likes it
Jim: After drinking alien wine, attempted to replicate entire corn maze because “I miss Iowa, Bones”
Chapel: Got into philosophical argument with replicator over why it could produce a chocolate sundae, but not a chocolate Tuesday or Wednesday. Replicator had existential crisis and required repair
Sulu: “What do you have?” “A replicated knife!” “NO-”
Chekov:Prefaces every replicator order with “Russian,” whether the food is specific to Russia or not
Spock: Secretly replicates peach cobbler when he thinks Bones isn’t looking because he actually really likes it
Jim (again): Fell asleep in Mess Hall with arms lovingly cradling 17 orders of replicated mozzarella sticks
Uhura: Just uses the replicator according to regulation; what’s wrong with you people
Trek-Tracks: Calls food synthesizer a “replicator” when the term wasn’t used until TNG; doesn’t care and will not be taking criticism at this time ;)

The best thing about this post is everyone reblogging it and tagging a different favourite name.
I also can’t believe I left this at 49 puns when either “Bean Me Up, Scotty,” or “Transporter Bean” was right there.

Break time
Character Celebration Day
On June 24th I will be hosting a day all about the lovely Montgomery Scott. Every 15 minutes you will get a fic, gif OR piece of art celebrating the amazing creativity here on tumblr, set to post from 10am to 10pm (tumblr queue time, whatever that may be on that day).
I will be posting some of my fics, but there will be a whole list of other creators featured. So, if you have any gifs, art, or fics you think I would like to include then please throw them my way.
If you do not wish to be spammed by the fabulousness that is Scotty on that day then I will be using the #ems character celebration day, so feel free to block that.
Hope you enjoy the day as much as I will putting it together, and have a really great day!
Scotty’s Dress Uniform Kilt: What Tartan is that?
In the season three episodes “Is there in truth no beauty?” and “The Savage Curtain” we see Scotty in the rarely featured dress uniform. But his uniform is different from the others - he wears a kilt along with a belt and sporran.
As a proud tartan wearer myself I always loved this detail, but only recently did I wonder 1) if the tartan is real and 2) if so, whose clan does it belong to?
Luckily Trekcore has screencaps that make solving these mysteries a bit easier. The tartan is fairly simple, just black and white. Most tartans include a mix of warm and cool colors so this is somewhat unusual. (See samples below).
So is Scotty’s tartan real?
Yes! Not only is this a real (official) tartan, it’s from the real Scottclan!
A clarification: many clans have more than one tartan variation! Scotty’s tartan is the black and white variation made for Sir Walter Scott. You can see it listed here in the Register of Tartans.
I found a website called Curious and Unusual Tartans which has a helpful article about Scotty’s tartan:
“The tartan which Montgomery Scott is seen wearing in episode “The Savage Curtain” is not the official clan Scott tartan, but rather, a variation featuring a black and white weave, which he was given the blessing of wearing by members of the clan, despite the actor being of Irish heritage. Even just a few years before his passing, actor James Doohan could be seen proudly wearing the Scott tartan on the red carpet, a symbol of his most well-loved character and his adopted heritage!“
