My ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD sister has to do her mandatory school work remotely from home because of lockdown. Tonight, my mum and I discovered that the app she has to use for class contains

MICROTRANSACTIONS.

Let me repeat that: microtransactions being put into an app that my little sister needs to use to receive her school assignments and participate in her education.

Basically, this is an app where the teacher uploads assignments for kids to do and every kid has a little monster that they use as an avatar in the virtual classroom. You can unlock new skins and customise your monster but it costs REAL MONEY.

Kids don’t need this kind of peer pressure. They already have to deal with these god damn transactions in all of their video games. They don’t need this in their VIRTUAL CLASSROOM APPS.

PLEASE STOP PREYING ON CHILDREN WHO ARE TRYING TO DO THEIR SCHOOL WORK.

My sister does not need to spend money customising her in-app classroom avatar. She is trying to do her maths assignments. She is a CHILD.

Why are microtransactions being put into TEACHING APPs that children are using for MANDATORY WORK during a PANDEMIC????

Abolish capitalism and all of these god damn parasites hurting our kids. Holy hell.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.

Someone took my post and made a haiku out of it, the poetry nerd in me is obsessed!

Imho the idea of ‘cruelty free’ products or food shouldn’t mean that nothing died to create it, but rather that anything and anyone involved in the creation process hasn’t been exploited or harmed.

Leather is good actually. Veganism isn’t the end all be all to morality and consumption. The issue isn’t that a chicken died for those nuggets, but that while the chicken was alive, it’s life fucking sucked. Vegan chocolate means little if the cocoa that made it was gathered by child slave labor.

Factory farms, abuses of the people who pick the fruit and vegetables we eat, the focus profit and productivity over all else - that’s the fucking issue here. It’s capitalism folks.

Oops, someone dropped the truth.

I need to shout out my therapist and also my daily anti-depressant for getting me through today because my car officially died (in the middle of the road no less) and I was weirdly calm through the whole ordeal. Now I get to deal with being carless and unemployed in the middle of nowhere, so that’s fun. I’m listing below my v*nmo and c*shapp if anyone can help me out with these Uber rides.

I saw a “we need more women in the top 1%” ad and SCREAM liberals will really praise an exploiting class whenever it seems progressive.

the top 1% shouldn’t even exist.

bonus: ad sponsored by google, unsurprisingly, LMAO

“imagine a world with more female ceos” imagine a world with NO ceos

Being a leftist feminist in liberal circles can be so exhausting sometimes.

I was in a therapy session with an 8 year old client the other today who asked me what I was doing for the rest of my day and I said I had to stay at work until 5pm. She proceeded to tell me that if she had to work until 5pm she would scream. And like yeah, I get that on a visceral level.

In lieu of getting an appropriate amount of sleep I’ve just decided to double down on my caffeine intake.

I’m still very unemployed, but I did get a one week dog sitting job and honestly getting paid $200 to watch a very cute and sweet german Shepard for the week is what my mental health needs rights now.

I’m still very unemployed after 5 job interviews and my car is barely functional at the moment. I’m crocheting and selling handmade rainbow pride scarves to get by until I can hopefully find another job soon. If you don’t want a scarf, I’ll also attach my v*nmo and c*shapp because every little bit helps right now. Thanks!

Online advertising uses over 100 TWh of electricity per year, about 1/10th the consumption of the entire internet, and produces about 60 megatons of CO2 as of 2016

Junk mail destroys over 100 million trees every year in the US alone. 44% of junk mail is discarded without even being opened, and only about 22% is recycled

Each digital billboard consumes about 30 times more energy than the average American household, and there are almost 9,000 just in the US

All of this for an industry that objectively makes people’s lives worse, that everyone openly hates, whose only goal is to manipulate people to buy things that they by definition do not need. And this isn’t even including TV and radio ads, conventional billboards, posters, construction, maintenance, design, all the countless hours of labor spent polluting our public spaces and our minds with the sole purpose of making the rich richer
