So um hi, I’m new to this fandom but please hear me out. How about a Tarzan-ish/Tribe DinLuke AU :D

This idea had been pestering me for the past 3 days now but I don’t have the time right now to write a whole fanfic but I do have something short written and drawn for it.

SUMMARY:

So Luke, Leai, Han, Chewbacca, Artoo and Threepio went to explore the heart of a huge rain forest (idk what to call it yet) themselves because Leai believes that Gideon’s so-called “Expedition” in the said forest is bantha shit and he’s actually planning on destroying it. The worst part is that the Senate Council isn’t doing anything about it. They’re scared for the all of the life forms on that forest so they wanted to take down Gideon by gathering some evidence. When the news about a plane crashing somewhere in the forest took over the internet, they decided to check it out. What they didn’t know, however, is that hidden tribes also reside in that forest and they’re about to be pulled into something more than they bargained for.

This is my design for Luke. He still wears his iconic Poncho tho but I don’t have the time to draw it yet sksksk Grogu finds him very interesting. He knows ALS and that’s why he can communicate with Grogu. Din also finds him very interesting ;D

image

This is what I imagine Grogu would look like 0u0 he’s…an escapee of some sort. He may or may not be selectively mute but he’s very cautious of other people. He’s very much attached to Din though.

He was on the plane that crashed in the forest, not sure how he survived, he just did. Din found him after he and some of his men decided to investigate the crash site. They took him in but Grogu doesn’t have a skull mask of his own yet because he hasn’t been officially blessed (?) as part of their tribe since he can’t tell them his name. Until Luke came in that is hehe

image

I had a hard time coming up for Din’s design but ngl I think he turned out great. The skull is supposed to be a Mythosaur but I didn’t remember it’s existence after I finished coloring Din :“D Please note that the color may vary from different screen to screen so it may be paler or darker than my original color palette for him >o<

Din can understand and speak Basic (English) but he doesn’t want to because of his anger towards outsiders. He’s fiercely protective of Grogu and a jerk to Luke but he started to lighten up after seeing that they’re just here to help them take down Gideon. Luke received extra cookies points for helping them get Grogu officially adopted into their tribe. The claws I was talking about on the sketchpad was his weapon/gloves I think.

Without his skull mask, he kinda looks like Lapu-Lapu (a hero here in the Philippines) because I imagine him with long hair or a mullet. I’ll try to draw that when I get the time sksksk

ALTERNATIVE DARK HIDDEN TRIBE AU (ART CONCEPT COMING SOON):

The thing is that I don’t know if I wan’t to stick with this plot, I kinda like the idea of Dark!Din more where he captures the group so they could kill them for…food??? Yup, cannibals but I suck at this kind of trope that’s why I usually just reads them. *cough* Hannibal *cough* So yeah, it could be a dark ending where they’re killed except for Luke who’s forced to be Din’s spouse. It doesn’t help that Grogu likes him and you know that Din would do anything for his precious son.

BONUS ART (WITHOUT COLOR THO BECAUSE MY FINGER IS KILLING ME):

Grogu is scared of Han for some reason I can’t remember I was writing all of my sleep-deprived ramblings on my sketchpad but yeah, Grogu finds Luke very interesting so he kept following them. They recognized him as one of the missing children on the plane but Grogu was very adamant that he doesn’t want to go back. Han suggested that they turn him over for some cash rewards which caused Grogu to cry and for both the Skywalker Twins to smack Han on the back of his head.

It’s confrontation time! >:3

So Luke was captured by Boba Fett and was brought to Din since many claims that they saw Grogu with him. The problem is that Grogu was currently with Leia since they all got chased by Gideon’s men and they had no choice but to split up. They were after Luke specifically so he gave Grogu to his sister when they split up. Din is furious and he had every right to be so, too bad Luke had to endure his wrath. Luke tries to explain but Din was having none of it and he was about to execute Luke then and there when Grogu comes in to save his ass.

"Grogu wait-!”

Grogu stood in front of Luke with his arms stretched out, “Buir, no!”

Everyone was in stunned silence.

Din was the first one to recover and he easily side-stepped Grogu to point his spear at Luke once more.

“What did you call him?” His voice was so deep and grave that Luke couldn’t help shivering from it.

“Answer me.”

Luke wetted his lips, “Grogu. That’s his name.”

“You can understand him.” It wasn’t even a question.

“Yes.”

That’s all! Thank you so much for coming to my TED talk :DDD

I also publish it on AO3 if any of you guys are interested 0u0/

I’ll add the link a little bit later

Tribute to the Solos.

Words:840
Pairing:None
Cast of Characters: Reader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo & Chewbacca
Summary: Reader has been kept in the dark about the location of their next mission. When they can’t stand the unknown anymore they begin to probe Luke and Han for answers, only to find the location of their next mission is work than they could have ever imagined.

“I don’t understand why the location of our mission has to be kept secret from Luke and I we’re on the mission.” You complained from one of the passenger’s seats in the Millennium Falcon.

You’d been cruising through space for nearly a standard week. All Leia had told you when you’d been briefed was that you and Luke were being dispatched on behalf of the New Republic to negotiate peace with someone who’d recently risen to power. You knew that he was a former bounty hunter who now sat on the shoulders and throne of a former crime boss, but his name and planet had been redacted. As far as you were aware, only Han and Chewbacca had been given the name and location of the planet as they were assigned to transport you and Luke on your mission.

“Oh, the location’s not a secret to me.” Luke piped up from the seat beside you. He said it in his unnervingly calm jedi way. The way that always made him seem five steps ahead of everyone else.

“Leia told me the location had to be kept secret for security reasons!” You remarked. “So I’m the only onewho hasn’t been told?”

“Fear not, [Y/N] I have also not been provided the location of the planet we are to travel too.” Cee Threepio added in his metallic panicked tone. You ignored the droid. If you weren’t concerned you may need the protocol droid to translate, you would have disassembled him by now.

“You’re the security threat, Sweetheart.” Han barked not looking away from the viewport before him.

“Me? I’ve never…” You started to argue.

“Leia had some…concerns.” Luke interjected choosing his words carefully. “That you might not be receptive to the idea of returning to this particular planet.”

“Oh. So it’s a planet we’ve been to before?” You probed for more clues.

“You might as well tell her, Kid.” Han chimed in again. “It’s about to be visible on the viewport any second.”

“Well, go on then!” You demanded from the Jedi, but before Luke could utter the first syllable a planet you recognized began to manifest on the viewport before you. “No!!” You exclaimed taking in the two suns orbiting the planet. “Why here! Why me!” You began muttering swears and curses from every language you knew.

You always considered yourself a seasoned traveler. You’d been from one end of the galaxy to the other and back again. Most of the time the destination suited you just fine. From the lush green forests of Kashyyyk or Endor’s moons to the beautiful waters of Naboo. Alderaan had been a particular favorite of yours, before its unprecedented removal. You even liked the snow planets like Hoth. If you had to select a terrain that you hated, and you absolute did hate them, it would have to be the sand planets.

No one ever felt renewed and refreshed after visiting a sand planet. They were almost entirely desert based. Most of them were impossibly hot hellscapes which were not in any way improved by the presence of their citizens. The worst of these sand planets was Tatooine. Not being content with just one sun to burn its sandy surface, Tatooine boasted two.

“I’m not going down there.” You protested. “You can’t make me.” Chewbacca unleashed a gurgle in Shryiiwook assuring that he could make you if he needed to.

“Easy Chewy,” Han attempted to sooth his friend. “I told the Princess this was going to happen.”

“And I assured both Leia andHan that you understood how important your position as a negotiator for the New Republic is.” Luke stepped in, attempting to sooth you. “I know you won’t jeopardize the mission because of your hesitations.”

“Get Leia on the coms!” You ordered the Millennium Falcon’s pilots. “You’re going to have to get someone else, because I’m not going.”

“[Y/N], be reasonable.” Luke advised, calm as ever. Your outburst was almost amusing to him.

“I’m not being reasonable?” You laughed.  “There’s at least a hundred planets and moons in the known galaxy, but where to we always seem to end up? Tatooine! It’s a nightmare inducing, crime riddled outer rim planet that for some reason always seems to be at the center of all our problems! Are there even other planets, or have I just been traveling to various parts of Tatooine unbeknownst to me?”

“The other planets are very real.” Han insisted. “I’ll show you the Star Charts.”

“Yougot the full briefing,” You rounded on Luke. “Who’s this new leader on Tatooine that’s so important it requires negotiations and a jedi delegate?”

“Boba Fett.” Luke answered. “He’s recently taken over Jabba’s territory on Mos Espa.”

“Ah, well you should have just led with that.” You turned away from Luke and watched Tatooine grow larger in the viewpoint.

“That’s all it took?” Han asked after exchanging a confused look with his Wookie companion.

“Boba’s an old friend.” You shrugged. “And he owes me a favor. This’ll be easier than walking a Bantha.”

Star Wars may be heightened fantasy, so the situations that the characters are in are extreme for dramatic effect but the emotions of the characters are still very human. When we watch a film, we as the audience “put ourselves in the character’s shoes.”

image

That’s why the opening scene of the Last Jedi is so effective in getting the audience invested in the stakes of the film. Rian Johnson said that “Star Wars wasn’t about space ships but about the people inside the space ships.” Because while it’s really hard for an audience to care about “the galaxy” being at stake if the heroes lose. When a movie gives us character’s that we can connect with and relate to, then it makes it easier for the audience to care. For example, I care about what happens to the resistance because Rose is part of the resistance and I care about Rose because Rose lost her sister and clearly loved her, I can relate to this idea because I have two sisters and would be devastated if anything happened to them.

I think this human element is what makes memorable and inspiring films.

No film illustrates this concept of the emotional connection between the characters and the audience better to me than one of my favorites, “Saving Mr. Banks.” (Which also just so happens to be about writers misunderstanding a redemption story and is also a Disney movie)

image

“She’s as real as can be to my daughters. And to thousands of other kids. Adults, too.” - Saving Mr. Banks (2013)

In fact, studies have shown that the relationships that we feel for fictional characters are very real and we can feel very strong emotions for them. “The interesting thing is that our brains aren’t really built to distinguish between whether a relationship is real or fictional, So these friendships can convey a lot of real-world benefits.” Those can include self-esteem boosts, decreased loneliness and more feelings of belonging.”- Jennifer Barnes (Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Oklahoma)

This is why fiction can feel like such a personal and intimate experience. I find it interesting that the writers of “The Force Awakens”, chose to make the villain of the series the son of Han and Leia two characters that audiences growing up watching the original trilogy loved and connected with. What is interesting is that OT Audiences are now Han and Leia’s age in the sequel trilogy and many have their own adult children. I believe that this was done intentionally because the audience is suppose to feel sympathy for Ben and see him as “their own child” in a sense. The audience is suppose to consider “what if this was my own child and they were struggling? What would I want to happen to them?”

image

And that is why I can’t support this interpretation of Leia’s character:

image

Why did you have to make him so cruel? He was not a monster! You all have children, yes? And do those children make letters for you? Do they write letters? Do they make you drawings? And would you tear up those gifts in front of them? It’s a dreadful thing to do. I don’t understand. Why must Father tear up the advertisement his children have made and throw it in the fireplace? Why won’t he mend their kite? Why have you made him so unspeakably awful? “In glorious Technicolor”? “For all the world to see”? If you claim to make them live, why can’t he… they live well?”-Saving Mr. Banks (2013)

I can’t view Ben’s death as this hopeful positive thing that they’ve been trying to portray it as. Parents want what is best for their children, they want to see them succeed. What parent wishes for their child’s death? Especially after he’s just found hope. Now that they’ve “seen the light” wouldn’t you want them to live their life to the fullest?

I swear that every time a person goes into a movie house – from Leicester Square to St Louis, they will see George Banks being saved. They will love him and his kids, they will weep for his cares, and wring their hands when he loses his job. And when he flies that kite, oh! They will rejoice, they will sing. In every movie house, all over the world, in the eyes and the hearts of my kids, and other kids and their mothers and fathers for generations to come, George Banks will be honored. George Banks will be redeemed. George Banks and all he stands for will be saved. Maybe not in life, but in imagination. Because that’s what we storytellers do. We restore order with imagination. We instill hope again and again and again.” - Saving Mr. Banks (2013)

Star Wars has many themes, but the most prominent are redemption, compassion, family and most importantly of all… “Hope”

The reason we love redemption arcs is because they give us hope that anyone can change. They can inspire us to turn our own lives around and hope for a better future for ourselves and our family. The way TROS ends, with Ben’s death, creates a disconnect with the films message.

image

George Lucas believed that it was possible for lost people to find their way again and make a difference. But killing Ben Solo off after he’s done one good deed, goes against this message. If you want people to change, you have to let them live to correct their mistakes.

“Character like Finn & Rey are examples of doing right. But you have to speak to the lost ones too if you want them to come home. “ -Unknown.

*Again I hope this makes sense, I have a lot of thoughts!

so much could have been improved in the sequels if kylo ren hadn’t been force sensitive

no wait think about it. kylo ren not being force sensitive, but so desperate to be so he’s willing to do anything. he feels cheated out of his grand destiny, his powers that his mother and uncle (and cousin?) have. give me the story on the entitlement towards the force. it would have shown that the force is beyond biological, it always has been. it would have given a better reason for kylo ren to “fall to the dark side”, so desperate for a connection to the force that he plays the part of a dark sider, swinging a cracking red lightsaber around with no finesse or training, killing hoping that it will push him further into a dark side of the force he cannot feel. it would have given a reason for him to hate han; that because han isn’t force sensitive, it’s his fault that kylo isn’t either. kylo’s character would have been stronger because his choices would have been his own, instead of whatever whisper dream manipulations they were in canon. his evil has nothing to do with the force, but an entitled man trying to claim a power he believes is his by birthright.

this would have foiled perfectly with finn, too- one is a child born to the most powerful force sensitives in the galaxy who cannot feel the force. and finn is a child who was taken from his family, forced into soldier-hood, who feels such a deep and powerful connection to himself and the force that he breaks free. kylo ren, seething and entitled trying to claim a destiny and power that just aren’t his, and finn, who has suffered at kylo’s actions and still connected to the powerful light inside of him. the “nobody” hero of the sequels who has the power of the force and the legacy-born villain who doesn’t.
