Hello friends and enemies,

I have decided to do a masters degree for some fucking reason. Due to these godforsaken circumstances, I am going to be a student again.

Now, based on my experience being an undergrad with my Brain and Misc Issues, I knew that my hubris in pursuing YET MORE EDUCATION would result in having to write a lot of stressful emails, while dealing with a stressful situation.

So, to help myself cope in advance, I’ve decided to write drafts of these emails in advance, so that it’s less agonisingly painful to deal with this shit when it comes up.

And you can use them too!

under the cut, I have some draft emails for when you need to tell your lecturers:

  1. I’m going to miss a lecture.
  2. I have missed a lecture
  3. I will be turning in an assignment late
  4. I have missed a deadline
  5. I have had a personal crisis which impacts my studies.
  6. SEND AT START OF SEMESTER: explaining that you fidget/stim without using the word stim.

This is a wonderful resource! Like you, OP, I decided to do the school thing again after finishing the bachelors, and I hope you experience all the success you deserve!

I’d like to add on to this post with a list of accommodations that many universities have for neurodivergent undergrads and grad students. I went into my grad program not even knowing accommodations were available to us. Thought this list might be useful to others…

The tradition that perhaps codified the image of the magical circle in the Western magical stratum is the Solomonic tradition, and in its context the more obvious use for it is protection. The theology the tradition emerges from dictates a need for insulating ourselves from the evoked in the same stroke that it sets the terms for the adversarial format of the operations. While recent developments should by now have enriched our world view sufficiently to dispel the belief that this is strictly necessary, there are, as usual, valuable insights to be garnered in the study of traditional ritual mechanics.

From what the texts say regarding outcomes, we can extrapolate a proposition that spirit manifestations are consciously visible to the naked eye, and that they present a real and immediate danger to the operator. That peril can be reasonably attributed to various specific aspects of any given system, less often recognised among those is the case of early formulae whose goal was obtaining a number of unknown spirits to manifest, all of which with unpredictable agendas. Or quite simply that in compelling a certain class of hostile spirits to appear, care will indeed be required.

This element of compelling is commonly done away with in modern systems, and the consequently subtler outcomes led its proponents to put in ink a conclusion that the sole purpose of the circle is to situate the magician at the centre of the magical universe. While that’s most definitely not the whole truth if taking into account recognitions aplenty of it acting as a protective device, there’s corroboration of its making entailing elaborate considerations such as the names of lower hierarchy, correct timing and more, and therefore it playing a more than passive role in ritual.

Andrew D. Chumbley in his Opuscula Magica Vol. I excellently ascertains the origins of names given to sorcerers translating to “the encircling ones”, alluding to the binding nature of the practice, and in subsequent paragraphs cites the observance of the cycles of the Moon and seasons providing the motif for the recognition of the geometrical symbol as meaning universe. Although he speaks primarily from the point of view of a distinct tradition, this is worth considering seeing as we can find the symbolism taken to length in the influential Peter de Abano’s Heptameron as well as the table of practice in Francis Barrett’s The Art of Drawing Spirits Into Crystals.

Circles in Solomonic systems

The essentials of the designs seen in various Key of Solomon manuscripts and its predecessors remain more or less the same, with variations mainly around the magical names used on the boundaries. A distinct detail of these is that unlike late Latin formulae, they frequently feature an entryway into the circle that is to be sealed off once all participants step in.

Their exact diameter is the topic of heated forum debates, likely because most expect to be able to conduct the ritual at home and laying a nine foot circle indoors can be difficult for urban dwellers. Heeding the wording in early instructions, they almost never fail to account for the presence of other participants needing to fit in the space, which is certainly a factor of that suggestion. Though rather than looking at the measure as having a numeric significance paramount for the success of the operation, considering it has been more often not specified, I submit that the more interesting factor is the metaphysical implications behind these operations being experienced in groups apparently as a matter of course. I would also caution against assuming them needing to be conducted indoors, as several of the instructions we will see further ahead plainly advise otherwise.

Designs found in three of the manuscripts of the Hygromanteia feature a double circle with magical names written inset. The previously mentioned entrance is laid southside and shows the black handled knife pointing outwards, indicating it’s to be used for closing it. The use of the black handled knife is of summary importance. The blade is consecrated to Mars and it’s by its virtues that spirits are kept at bay. This knowledge is missing from ignorant analysis deriding the idea as if what it proposes is that a mere figure on the ground should be capable of so.

The circle for one of the evocation approaches in MS Atheniensis 12651:

Circle for the first spirit working rite, Atheniensis 1265

The following, from a French Key of Solomonmanuscript,MS Wellcome 46702:

Mathers key of Solomon circle

Instructions in Harleianus 5596, another manuscript of the Hygromanteia, direct the magician to first burn incense and only then trace the circle, showing the process to be a form of ritual in itself.

InAtheniensis 1265 we find the following directions for procuring a location of the ritual3:

Go find a proper place to trace a circle. Let the place be at the peak of a mountain, in the woods, on a plain, in a cave, near the sea, in a garden, at a place where somebody was killed in old times and where neither the crow, nor a rooster, nor the voices of men can be heard, at a pure and trackless place, near a river, or near a meeting of three roads. It has to be far from people, where nobody can hear or see, and where the human voice cannot be heard, in order not to be obstructed by anybody.

The text emphasised above, conspicuously omitted from the same sentence in the later Atheniensis 115, carries huge practical implications best addressed in detail on a separate occasion, so I will only briefly note here that I believe these necromantic overtones are no accident, and in this communion lies a key to the practice of ceremonial magic. The dead will witness the ritual and their help is a possibility if honours and relief are offered.

In the later Key of Solomon, the instructions principally emphasise the need for isolation4:

The places best fitted for exercising and accomplishing magical arts and operations are those which are concealed, removed, and separated from the habitations of men. Wherefore desolate and uninhabited regions are most appropriate, such as the borders of lakes, forests, dark and obscure places, old and deserted houses, whither rarely and scarce ever men do come, mountains, caves, caverns, grottos, gardens, orchards; but best of all are cross-roads, and where four roads meet, during the depth and silence of night

Though in the subsequent paragraph offers recognition of the previous point5:

These arts or operations should he carried out at the prescribed time, but if there be no time specially appointed it will be always better to perform them at night, which is the most fit and proper time for the operations of necromancy

As stated earlier, at times we see the use of names or sigils of spirits found in the lower hierarchy in a bid for representing their authority, for in turn compelling the evoked to manifest, but on the circle itself. In a manuscript omitted in Mathers’ version of the Key of Solomon,MS Aubrey 24, the names of four demon kings are seen written around the circle at their respective cardinal directions. This exact same idea is seen in late Latin manuscript of remark, MS Wellcome 2000. It shows on its frontispiece an ourobouros circle with sigils of its four cardinal kings displayed on the outside6:

Circle from MS Wellcome 2000

Peter de Abano’s Heptameronoffersextremely elaborate instructions for tracing the circle. I will quote it in full for an accurate impression7:

The form of Circles is not alwaies one and the same; but useth to be changed, according to the order of the Spirits that are to be called, their places, times, daies and hours. For in making a Circle, it ought to be considered in what time of the year, what day, and what hour, that you make the Circle; what Spirits you would call, to what Star and Region they do belong, and what functions they have. Therefore let there be made three Circles of the latitude of nine foot, and let them be distant one from another a hands breadth

1) and in the middle [i.e. inner] Circle, first, write the name of the hour wherein you do the work. 2) In the second place, Write the name of the Angel of the hour. 3) In the third place, The Sigil of the Angel of the hour. 4) Fourthly, The name of the Angel that ruleth that day wherein you do the work, and the names of his ministers. 5) In the fifth place, The name of the present time [i.e. season such as Spring]. 6) Sixthly, The name of the Spirits ruling in that part of time, and their Presidents. 7) Seventhly, The name of the head of the Signe ruling in that part of time [season] wherein you work. 8) Eighthly, The name of the earth, according to that part of time [season] wherein you work. 9) Ninthly, and for the compleating of the middle Circle, Write the name of the Sun and of the Moon, according to the said rule of time [season]; for as the time is changed, so the names are to be altered.

And in the outermost Circle, let there be drawn in the four Angles, the names of the presidential Angels of the Air, that day wherein you would do this work; to wit, the name of the King and his three Ministers

(cont.)

Notable among these cares is the laying of names and sigils of horary angels, an appeal to horary hierarchy imprinted in the circle itself. The Heptameron circle is likely the better example of a talismanic representation of the universe being fundamental for getting the attention of the evoked.

The following is Heptameron circle for the first hour of Sunday in the Spring8:

Heptameron Sunday circle

Similar instances of the observance of timing (and its conjoined hierarchy) can be found in the Sworn Book of Honorius, where the circles vary extensively with the class of spirit being evoked9:

Circle for the so-and-so

Another application of this concept is found in The Art of Drawing Spirits Into Crystals, albeit much more simplified, where the pedestal holding the scrying lapidary stands on a circle, around which the names of the planets, their ruling angels, and the names of four cardinal kings are depicted. In addition, the formula features a second protective circle design for the magician to stand on with usual names of God written on10:

Trithemius table of practice

A rather simple operation from Bononiensis 3632(Hygromanteia) also makes use of a table of evocation. Interestingly, the protective circle is traced on the table itself and the spirit bound with a thrust of the knife at the centre of it. It’s unclear, however, where exactly the manifestation is to take place. It goes as follows11:

Lay a new tablecloth on a new table, and place an empty bowl upon it, together with two lit candles on candlesticks, one at each side. At the other sides of the table place another earthen bowl, a censer with lit charcoals and incense, and various peeled fruits. Then, take a knife with a black handle with your right hand, trace the circle three times around the table, and each time recite the following conjuration.

“I conjure you, Mortze, or human ghost, or haunting of this place, come to me now that I invoked you at this table that I prepared for you. Eat and drink from the food I prepared for you”

And when you see that he ate, conjure him this way:

“I conjure you, Mortze, do not defecate, do not urinate, until you tell me the whole truth in whatever I will ask you.”

Do this three times with the knife, around the table. And when you finish the three circles, thrust the knife into the table and recite the following: I nail you here, Mortze, or haunting of this place.

Though this is phrased as if the binding is based on keeping the spirit constrained in bowel discomfort, the element of feeding spirits is common enough both in the genre to warrant suggesting there’s likely a system of evocation in this formula. An illustration of the table described above12:

Bononiensis table of evocation

In my own approach I utilise a design quite similar to the one in MS Wellcome 2000. The sigils of the four cardinal kings are traced and honoured with incense along with a conjuration recited, so to interest them in facilitating access to their deputies. Rituals take place at an isolated grove at night. A replica of it is kept in my home temple for the occasional rite undertaken indoors. The complete formula may be published sometime in the near future:

Replica of the actual evocation circle kept in home temple

Alternative means of protection

In traditions in and out of the Western current, examples can be found of protection provided via implements such as lamens worn by the operator or allegiances formed with superior or intermediary spirits. While this is assessed by some as a head-on approach, technically, protection is not being foregone altogether, but simply obtained through a different avenue.

In one of the more complete evocation systems found in the Greek Magical Papyri,PGM IV 154-285, the operator is directed to wear a philactery inscribed with various magical names during the course of contacting the gods the operation aims to put the magician in contact with. This formula interestingly begins with an initiation ritual for obtaining an alliance with Helios (Sun), it then providing the power for conducting the ritual13:

PGM IV 154-285 philactery

In Quimbanda14, the role of the Exú rei (king Exú) is to both protect the Quimbandeiro and mediate contact with “hotter” types of Exús. Through his agency the Quimbandeiro is equipped to act without the need for protective regalia when working directly with these spirits. Tempting as it is to draw a line between it and Scirlin from the Grimorium Verum, note that the Verum nevertheless advises the use of a circle and does not forego with the usual precautions. There seems to be less distance between it and the Paredros from the Greek Magical Papyri, or the spirit animal in some forms of shamanism, when looking strictly at roles fulfilled.

In certain lineages of European witchcraft, it’s the alliance obtained during initiation, or the “taking” of the witch by a spirit that provides both the power and safety for working other spirits reliably. This in turn can be understood as something similar to what is seen in Palo Mayombe, where the pact with the nganga is what ensures that the palero remains protected in the course of the work15. My personal approach relies on devotional work conducted with a charged statue of Lucifer, who commands the pantheon and is considered a gatekeeper to the mysteries kept by it. From this work an artefact is confectioned which carries his authority and imparts protection.

In conclusion, how necessary a circle is varies with relationships, alternative methods of protection, or the depth to which the procedure takes the matter of spirit manifestation to. It’s a lot less problematic not using it once certain pacts are in place, at which point it has presumably been employed a few times.

These are my basic interpretations for each of the runes of the Elder Futhark. While these explanations may reveal the basic meanings of these symbols, at least according to my own research and experience, they only scratch the surface of the layers of wisdom that can be found in the runes. For deeper study, there are many wonderful books out there that expand on them. I would personally recommend Diana Paxson’s Taking Up the Runes as a great starting point.

As a personal aside, I would consider myself a fairly conservative interpreter of the runes. I feel that the best basis for them can be found in reliable sources, such as existing lore and the rune poems. As such, I attempt to adhere closely to these sources when it comes to explaining the meaning of each symbol.

Fehu: Fehu means cattle and signifies wealth, but it is a wealth that is best used when moving through the community generously. The rune cautions against hoarding wealth and cites the discord that can result.

Uruz: Uruz stands for aurochs, which was a species of horned cattle common to the ancient world. As such, it is a rune of primal strength and determination. The rune can also mean rain.

Thurisaz: Thurisaz represents the giants of the Norse tales and is a rune of chaos and unrest. It could also be interpreted as a rune of Thor, which would turn the symbol into one of protection against those same chaotic forces.

Ansuz: Ansuz is the rune of Odin, which makes it a rune of wisdom. In the Anglo-Saxon rune poem the symbol also represents the mouth, lending an additional meaning of wisdom through communication and messages.

Raido: Raido means ride and is a rune of travel. While the journey may be swift and joyful, the rune poem warns of the toll the journey will take on the horse. This suggests that one must take care of those who help us along the way.

Kenaz: Kenaz is the torch that illuminates the way through darkness to a warm hearth and good company. However, as the fire burns for warmth, it can also cause pain and may indicate illness.

Gebo: Gebo signifies the rune of gifts and generosity. The rune also represents the cycle of reciprocity and the right-relationship that results when maintained.

Wunjo: Wunjo denotes the rune of joy. It is a bliss that can spring from prosperity, overcoming anxiety and sadness.

Hagalaz: Hagalaz represents hail, making it a rune of destruction and painful transition. All is not for naught however, for the ice seed will melt, giving water and growth to the hardier crops that survived.

Naudhiz: Naudhiz means need, and is a rune of constraint, oppression, and hard work that goes unrewarded. This is a challenging symbol, but the rune also indicates that lessons could be learned from the experience.

Isa: Isa stands for ice, fair to look upon but dangerous to traverse. This is a rune whose message is one of caution in situations where a particular decision seems desirable, but could be perilous. On the other hand, Isa can suggest stability and calm.

Jera: Jera is the rune for year and the harvest. It is manifestation of the rewards for hard work, with prosperity and abundance that sustains the individual or the community.

Eihwaz: Eihwaz is the symbol for the yew tree and can mean strength that is drawn from the line of ancestors. Eihwaz is also interpreted as the rune of Yggdrasil, which implies connection to the cosmos.

Perthro: Perthro is the dice-cup, the vessel from which the lots are cast, and the rune of chance. Perthro can represent uncertainty in everything from light-hearted gaming to the vagaries of fate.

Elhaz: Elhaz is the rune of the elk and the sedge. The shape of the rune resembles that of the antlers of the elk and the thorn of the sedge, making this a symbol of protection.

Sowilo: Sowilo represents the sun, making it a rune of illumination, victory, and power. The rune can also mean guidance, as one can always depend on the course of the sun to lead them to the end of their journey.

Tiwaz: Tiwaz is Tyr’s rune and is a symbol of justice and truth, potentially at the cost of self-sacrifice. Tiwaz also has an aspect of guidance in that right-action will always set you on the correct path.

Berkano: Berkano is the rune for the birch tree, indicating feminine strength and resourcefulness. From this meaning, it can be a rune for nurturing, healing, and regeneration.

Ehwaz: Ehwaz means horse and expresses the relationship between the horse and the rider. It is a rune of partnership, with attention given to those who help us along our journey. Naturally, the symbol can also represent movement and travel.

Mannaz: Mannaz is the symbol for “man” or “human,” and emphasizes the interconnected nature of human relationships. Mannaz can show the spectrum of these relationships, from comfort in good company to the more negative aspects of the human condition.

Laguz: Laguz is the rune for lake, making this a symbol for water. As such, this is a rune of potential and change, perhaps with the suggestion for flexibility through various situations. It can also mean the unconscious mind and the hidden wealth that lies beneath the surface.

Ingwaz: Ingwaz is Freyr’s rune and takes on the domains of the Vanic god as a symbol of fertility, productivity, and abundance. The rune can also symbolize masculine strength and the transforming cycles of life.

Dagaz: Dagaz means day and is the rune of new beginnings. With the day also brings hope, and is a welcome rune when life has been difficult. Dagaz can also signify the present moment and a call to “seize the day.”

Othala: Othala is the rune of the home and encompasses everything that entails, from the physical homestead to familial relationships of blood and heart. Othala also symbolizes the connection to the ancestors, from genetic inheritance to physical property passed on through the family line.

we probably lost a lot of medical knowledge during the witch hunts because of how many mid wives were persecuted, and how men took over the field of medicine. I bet a few hundred years ago a mid wife might actually have some kind of knowledge about conditions that affect women exclusively which we still haven’t bothered to research in our modern society.

ok now I’m fucking mad

how many got killed cuz of witch hunts seems like youd have to kill a lot

“It is estimated that at least 1, 000 were executed in England, and the Scottish, Welsh, and Irish were even fiercer in their purges. It is hard to arrive at a figure for the whole of the Continent and the British Isles, but the most responsible estimate would seem to be 9 million. It may well, some authorities contend, have been more. Nine million seems almost moderate when one realizes that The Blessed Reichhelm of Schongan at the end of the 13th century computed the number of the Devil-driven to be 1,758,064,176. A conservative, Jean Weir, physician to the Duke of Cleves, estimated the number to be only 7,409,127. The ratio of women to men executed has been variously estimated at 20 to 1 and 100 to 1. Witchcraft was a woman’s crime.

Men were, not surprisingly, most often the bewitched. Subject to women’s evil designs, they were terrified victims. Those men who were convicted of witchcraft were often family of convicted women witches, or were in positions of civil power, or had political ambitions which conflicted with those of the Church, a monarch, or a local dignitary. Men were protected from becoming witches not only by virtue of superior intellect and faith, but because Jesus Christ, phallic divinity, died “to preserve the male sex from so great a crime: since He was willing to be born and to die for us, therefore He has granted to men this privilege. ” Christ died literally for men and left women to fend with the Devil themselves.” (pg 129-130) Woman Hating, Andrea Dworkin

“The witches used drugs like belladonna and aconite, organic amphetamines, and hallucinogenics. They also pioneered the development of analgesics. They performed abortions, provided all medical help for births, were consulted in cases of impotence which they treated with herbs and hypnotism, and were the first practitioners of euthanasia. Since the Church enforced the curse of Eve by refusing to permit any alleviation of the pain of childbirth, it was left to the witches to lessen pain and mortality as best they could. It was especially as midwives that these learned women offended the Church, for, as Sprenger and Kramer wrote, “No one does more harm to the Catholic Faith than mid wives. ” The Catholic objection to abortion centered specifically on the biblical curse which made childbearing a painful punishmentit did not have to do with the “right to life” of the unborn fetus. It was also said that midwives were able to remove labor pains from the woman and transfer those pains to her husband—clearly in violation of divine injunction and intention both.” (pg 139-140) Woman Hating, Andrea Dworkin

“Themagic of the witches was an imposing catalogue of medical skills concerning reproductive and psychological processes, a sophisticated knowledge of telepathy, auto- and hetero-suggestion, hypnotism, and mood-controlling drugs. Women knew the medicinal nature of herbs and developed formulae for using them. The women who were faithful to the pagan cults developed the science of organic medicine, using vegetation, before there was any notion of the profession of medicine. Paracelsus, the most famous physician of the Middle Ages, claimed that everything he knew he had learned from “the good women.” (pg 140)  Woman Hating, Andrea Dworkin

****************get the PDF here *********************

Bolded sections are by me. Honestly I don’t think I need to explain much. We lost some of the most important women in the world, who were the pioneers of medicine for a “curse of eve”.  Basically saying if you relieve another woman’s pain we’re going to call you a witch and kill you “in the name of god” because having a child is punishment upon women and relieving their pain is illegal because this book written by men told me so.

Also check out the part where men can’t be witches because jesus and his “phallic divinity” “preserve the male sex”.

Ever heard of the Voynich manuscript? Big, huge, herbal / medical / astronomical lexicon from the 1400s, depicting lots of naked women clearly performing rituals that serve medical functions, lots of them pretty clearly related to childbirth.

You know, this book that is written in a language that nobody has been able to read for 600 years, but nobody, and I mean NO MAN has ever even thought about the simple reality of WOMEN having written it.

I found one blog post by a woman about how this text is very clearly written by women, and the knowledge within it has been completely annihilated or co-opted by men who now don’t even consider the possibility that a woman, or multiple women, could have written something like this.

Seriously, look it up. Naked women. Fat, short, in baths, all of it. And the entireacademic world is absolutely convinced this must have been written by a man. In the wikipedia article, only male linguists and historians are mentioned, because only they matter. And every single one of their theories is laughingly phallocentric and simply wrong.

They go so far as say that aliens wrote it before they consider that women actually had herbal and medicinal knowledge and passed that knowledge on, in secret, written in languages only they knew, so that no priest or holy man or inquisitor could read it and kill them.

Open your eyes. This has been going on for hundreds of years. Women had to hide in the shadows, had to invent languages, just to avoid being killed by men for trying to help themselves and other women. This is reality.

It wouldn’t be the first time womenhave had to invent their own languagebecause of the rights men withheld from us

August 11th, 2018: Partial Solar Eclipse in Leo/Mars in Capricorn “The Tyrant King must die!”

The Universe isn’t holding back it’s punches. We traditionally have two eclipses (a solar and a lunar eclipse) per year. Only two. But 2018 is a year of amazing exceptions and on August 11th, we will undergo a rare, third (partial) eclipse to catalyze our summer of retrogrades. Now for those of you who are new to astrology and pondering over why an eclipse is so important, allow me to break it down: eclipses of any kind signal new beginnings, overdue endings, the passing of fated events, and inescapable change. They’re a turning point where issues and hidden secrets must be brought forth into the light-usually through the form of a crisis or the assumption of an endeavor. Eclipses are doorways. Once they happen, the world shifts irrevocably, and doesn’t go back to the same as it was before.

You can always tell the attitude of an eclipse by which node it’s occurring near. What’s a node, you ask? They aren’t planets or any physical body in the sky but mathematical points upon which we can chart the position of the sun, moon, and earth. There’s two of them; a north node and a south node. This solar eclipse happens in the North Node which highlights parts of our life that need improvement, karmic growth, and moving forward into grabbing our destiny. It might feel like we’re being called by the distant future to acknowledge the truth of our life’s purpose and step up to batting plate. And astrologically speaking, we are.

The buck doesn’t stop here, Tumblr! Two more exotic features embellish this solar eclipse that are worth mentioning. We have a Mars opposition that’s bringing the war planet closer to Earth than it’s ever been since 2003. And before 2003, it took Mars 60,000 years to get to where it is now! With Mars being in such close proximity to us, it’s influence is currently on overdrive, and turning up the heat. Not just metaphorically but physically as well! This Mars opposition has been currently cooking us in deadly heat waves, breaking records that feel like screaming red alarms for the ecosystem, and bringing death in it’s wake to those unfortunate ones without access to air conditioning or protection. It’s been turning up our anger issues as well.

The other very unprecedented aspect of this rare eclipse is the presence of a “Yod”, otherwise known as “the finger of God”. Sounds pretty important, huh? But why is it important? And what the heck is it? A Yod in astrology is a configuration between two planets in Sextile (60 degrees apart from each other) that are connected to a third planet at their inverse midpoint. This creates a thin triangle shape, almost like a wand or a lazer beam, synthesizing the power of the two sextiled planets into the third planet. And guess where that finger is pointing? Take a wild stab in the dark! Yup, you’ve probably already guessed correctly. This Yod is pointed directly at the eclipse. My partner deepens this understanding by mentioning that “Yod” is part of the Hebrew alphabet, corresponds to the number 10, and carries the ideas of insemination. It’s the injection/exertion of Source’s will into the world before any manifestation in the physical. It’s a seed and contained within that seed is all the necessary data for that process, the divine plan, to occur.

I’ve been a witch for a long time. I’ve been around the block a couple of times this lifetime and bought the whole damn carnival in previous ones. Without a doubt, I can tell you true that the Universe doesn’t put on a show for absolutely nothing. These are crucial times we’re living in. Our ideas, our discourse, our actions taken on August 11th will ripple throughout time and impact the course of human history. Choose your position on the global chess board wisely.

That being said, let’s move onto those specifics. Shall we, friends, and enemies?

[The partial solar eclipse with it’s smitey finger will be pointing at Pacific Standard Time early in the morning at 2:57 a.m. Again with the early morning guerrilla warfare, huh Universe? Probably won’t be in the thick of it until later that day…]

Looking at where everything is on the chart for this eclipse, it appears that Source has created two different camps for the planets to sit in. One camp is in Pisces/Aquarius/Capricorn and the other is in exuberant Leo. There is a divide happening.

Jupiter and Venus are on one of the side lines watching this. Venus is anxious and dissatisfied at 4 degrees of Libra, seeking comfort in this situation where there’s absolutely none, and insisting that beauty, love, and diplomacy should solve the argument the solar system is having. However, the diplomacy that Venus is asking for is shallow, and drowned in the noise that Jupiter is expanding to inflammation. Jupiter is the EXTREMELY MASSIVE planet that bestows growth, expansion, and fortune. Jupiter is square to both Mercury retrograde in Leo and the Sun; let’s also not forget that Leo is ruled by the Sun and has a tendency to be arrogant. Therefore, the sitch here is that Jupiter is adding fuel to the Mercury retrograde fire! Zeus heard you like boastfulness and miscommunication. So Zeus is putting more boastfulness and miscommunication onto your ego and throat chakra so you can miscommunicate while you’re being a prideful dick.

You see, an internal examination is about to take place, hosted by the eclipse. This will be a silent conversation with yourself at first…but may very well leak over into the things we say and the words we choose to hear. Or probably scream, seethe, or declare from our mounting anger at the chains we’re placed in. And at the state of predatory affairs that robs us of a feeling of harmony. The ideas of this internal conversation are being formed in camp Pisces/Aquarius/Capricorn where Neptune and Pluto (retrograde) join hands together to point accusingly at camp Leo-who’s stuck in how assured the rightness of it’s identity is and triggering boundary issues. Let’s examine camp Pisces/Aquarius/Capricorn first in order to understand the underlying motivation of the eclipse examination and discourse…

Neptune in Pisces is using it’s retrograde sirens to call people into the deep oceanic waters of a spiritual quest. For those of us refusing the call, it can also be a time to get caught up in our illusions, evasiveness, or kingdoms of isolation. Unfortunately Jupiter, who’s donned the guise of Scorpio, is acting with Neptune in a Trine to make sure you confront your shadow self and the dark, psychological demons of your soul. Either route taken will have you heeding this plunge into the spiritual world to activate and manifest your dreams…or your nightmares. This is some surreal vibes. Possibilities once thought impossible are now on the table.

Pluto is journeying up the mountain of Capricorn at 19 degrees. My imagination paints the image of Hades climbing the ladder of earth’s governments/authorities, holding the black scythe of death, but not ready to unleash it’s power yet. Pluto is retrograding so instead of allowing death to take us into our next lives, we’re clinging to the past, or “the way it is”. We might be trying to hold on to old ways. We might be advocating for those old ways too! Following the program that’s been set out for you or forced to endure it. Jupiter has fingers in this kettle of fish as well. If you remember in the paragraph above, Jupiter is hanging out in Scorpio, which is-yup, the zodiac sign controlled by Pluto!

[Let me further add that in America’s case, this energy is particularly felt. It’s America’s Pluto Return right now. Ever heard of a Saturn Return where all your responsibilities and karmic debts get paid? A Pluto Return is when you’ve completed a whole cycle and are transformed by it. The country of star spangled power abuse is confronting a death and rebirth. Do we hold on to the systems and mandates we’ve been setting the world on fire with? Or will there be a change from within? Only time will tell.]

You should asked what Uranus is doing. You really should.

These two outer planets synergize when Source/The Powers That Be pushes Uranus retrograde straight into a T-bone (or T-square) with this eclipse event with the help of Mars! Like crashing your car backwards into a gasoline tank conveniently set in your path and causing an explosion. In this case, with those retrogrades active, an implosion.

The Lord of chaos, change, and revolution throws it’s lightning bolts of Source’s inspiration at Mars. Mars is retrograding in Aquarius, the zodiac sign of Uranus, and funnels unexpressed ideals and passion into the smitey finger of Source (Yod) being made. This particular aspect of August 11th’s solar eclipse is the entry point upon which the divine will move and inject the world with the next set of events, the next thrilling season of Life: Planet Earth.

And so, the topic of next season is breaking the chains of our spiritual delusions-as portrayed in whatever authority binds us from acting out our destiny and soul’s unique purpose. Whatever these structures are must be obliterated and destroyed in order to make way for the future.

While it’s a crap shoot to predict how Uranus will carry out Source’s narrative-it’s always going to do the unexpected and so trying to predict anything is folly-but I can say is that Uranus quincunxes Venus, redirecting back into the Yod through Saturn retrograde. So basically I can tell you what’s not going to happen. You’re not going to be able to smooth this over by going into your comfort zone, disassociating, or bartering with an outside source that it needs to be fair for you. Saturn is shooting that down hard with karmic debts you’ve avoided.

Now that we’ve talked about what’s energizing the internal dialogue this eclipse, how about we scoot onto camp Leo?

The finger of god is pointing to the sign of creativity, expression of ego, leadership, and the throne of kings. In particular, an asteroid sitting in Leo. The sign and constellation of Leo is said to predict the rise and fall of world leaders. And the Universe, curious to see how many objects it could fit into this regal sign, decided that four was enough. We have the sun and moon mirroring each other in the same 18th degree of Leo, speaking emotionally, and projectively of wanting to remain in our own little world like a rosebud refusing to bloom despite intense pressure from outside forces; the stronger the force exerted, the more adamantly we cling to our little worlds, and refuse to open our minds to the truth of the bigger picture. A solar eclipse unfolding within Leo at it’s 18th degree implies that our little worlds will be subject to change despite our resistance to it. Leadership is about to transform. The Sun is also inconjunct Pluto so, infuriatingly, this change of leadership will only be obvious in hindsight. We’re not going to see who the crown is passed onto until after these retrogrades are done. And something, the fundamental pride that cause the downfall of a governing structure, or civilization is being set into motion.

[This eclipse hails back to 19 years ago in August 1999 when the sun and the moon eclipsed in the same degree of Leo. During this time we had a bunch of United Nations Council Resolutions which redefined what the original letter of the law was pertaining to: organizing civilian organizations, issuing a cease fire in the Congo, a resignation of one leader to institute another, the establishment of human rights in war-torn Sierra Leone, addressing child soldiers and recruitment, and stripped Indonesia of it’s independence “temporarily”. I can only guess that these issues will come full-circle here at the primary elections we have taking place on the eclipse. I predict that Trump’s family separation policy will be an important topic on August 11th. There were also two violent shootings that broke out during the August 11th, 1999 solar eclipse. One of them at a Jewish community center. Whatever you do on the eclipse, PLEASE stay safe, and on alert.]

Mercury retrograde is conjuncting the eclipsing sun and moon. It’s being inflated to disastrous effect by Jupiter. With this interaction going on, we’re prone to prideful words, and an inflated sense of entitlement. We believe our ideas should rule and dictate to the majority! We want to plant the philosophies of our revolution onto everyone’s gardens so that OUR plants grow. Or we’re defending our garden from outside invaders, sowing foul weeds in our strawberry patch, and robbing us of our ability to control our life from a place of self-authority. It’s a battle of ideas that decides who takes the throne, wearing the robe of glory, and receives rulership over the microcosmic and macrocosmic throne. Which set of logics will seize the crown?

It’s all decided by Pallas Athena, a minor asteroid seated in-between the eclipse, mercury retrograde, and the North Node of destiny. Those of you familiar with their Greek mythology will recognize the name Athena. She’s the goddess of wisdom, strategy, war, and matters of skill. She sees the bigger picture in this chaos. Her eyes can pick out and connect the patterns, trends, and algorithms of everything that’s going on. At 17 degrees of Leo, Pallas Athena doesn’t give a flying shit about the letter of the law, and rather favors the true spirit of the law.

“If a law is unjust, a man is not only right to disobey it, he is obligated to do so.”

Thomas Jefferson poignantly described the attitude of Pallas Athena here during this eclipse. The Yod powered by camp Pisces/Aquarius/Capricorn is pointed directly at her. The smitey finger directs itself to single her out. She will be the final judge and executioner of who achieves victory on August 11th, 2018. I encourage you all to get in contact with your gods, guides, spirits, and totems of wisdom during this whole inflamed affair! The Hellenic practitioners out there would do well to anoint themselves with olive oil, wear their owl feathers, and clear our thoughts mentally to prepare. Witch tip: I’d use the tarot card “The Chariot” as Athena is credited for first inventing them. She, after all, crafts the tools of war. Work with her to craft your own because…well, based on the astrology in the next 20-40 years, war is inevitable. And it’s already breaking out in riots, planned strikes, and division. Arm yourself with true wisdom.

Witches, wizards, necromancers, spirit workers, those who work with the roots to those who work with the runes, psychics, elementalists, alchemists, star seeds, other kin, chaos magicians, and ceremonial practitioners…and any other magic-user in the world that I haven’t named, hear me! Dreamers, believers, and activists, please listen! Hell, if there’s even supernatural beings out there hearing me like vampires, werewolves, and shape shifters…please indulge this random human when I say that this eclipse is historically pivotal! It will decide how the law around the world is interpreted. Whether the authority we institute will and how we enact it will enslave or set us free. And who’s philosophy drives the boat that everyone on Earth rows in. Mars enters Capricorn a day after the eclipse taking the victor’s philosophy and making it happen. So on August 11th, use your ideas to create a better future. One we can all peacefully live in. Do your best magic.

Because this one counts. This one really counts.

astrology life hacks

-becomes friends with people who have planets in your 12th or 8th house, they’ll be able to teach you things about yourself and life you’d never be able to see. especially the 12th house as this is the house of the unseen, the vast cosmos, and ones own undoing

-find pluto in your chart. whatever house pluto resides in is the area of life you can receive most money from. ex: pluto in the 11th would suggest one might receive money from friends or their community

-learn about your North Node! please! your North Node is what you should try to embody in this incarnation of life to feel fulfilled and to grow. your South Node represents the way you were unbalanced in your last past life. if you live out your life from your south node you likely won’t be treated kindly or be wholly fulfilled. learning about the Nodes is a game changer

-if your planets fall into another persons 7th house they’ll probably love you, hard. they might also be a tad difficult to ever get away from haha. remember though, the 7th house also rules enemies. love and hate both share passion

-make connections to people who have the same moon sign as you. you’ll have a natural understanding of one another and being around them brings a silent sense of sweet comfort

-at work, find out the sun sign of your boss. work is usually an ego driven environment so the sun sign is easily expressed there. knowing their sun sign will help you understand the best way to approach them in most any situation

yall look at this shit ad*be is tryna pull now on ppl who have outdated software:

(note for context: i’m all for piracy, but in this case my copy of CS6 was downloaded yearsago when they were giving it away to students. i got it totally legally.)

so here is what NOT to do if you’re a loyal fan of adobe who has the cash to shell out for a newer and shittier version of the product you already paid for.

1) DON’T use your search bar to find and open the Run app

2) DON’T type in services.msc

3) DON’T find Adobe Genuine Software Integrity Services and right-click to get a dropdown menu, and don’t select ‘properties’

4) if you happen to click properties, DON’T use the startup type dropdown to locate the option to disable the program. be sure you DON’T click apply to finalize that change.

5) DO NOT do the same thing in order to also disable Adobe Genuine Software Monitor

if you do all of these things, this WILL disable adobe’s ability to monitor the software, and you will be forced to continue using the same older software that you already paid for instead of having to sign up for a newer, shittier version and pay more for it. so if you have lots of cash to spare and are cool with putting it the pockets of racketeering capitalists, definitely don’t do any of these things.

however, you SHOULD reblog this to spread the word, as we certainly want to make sure lots of people know what NOT to do :)

I’M SORRY MA'AM. I KNOW YOU’RE UPSET.

Pretend to be upset.

OP how could you

I hope none of my friends who use Adobe programs find this, follow your detailed instructions, and spread the word. That would be devastating!

It would.

What’s fascinating is that the parents who didn’t know it was the work of an autistic kid praised it as well.

Technically,we don’t know that it’s an autistic kid’s work, either. 5e infographic doesn’t say Cadence is autistic.

As a society, we need to bring back the Nintendo 3DS

Everybody tagging and commenting “original ds too” on this, I have great news about the functionality of the 3DS,

You’re more right than you know! Did you know the current state of 3DS homebrew makes it so that:

You can install and make your 3DS hacked with about an hour of work.

There is no risk of bricking

It is 100% undetectable by Nintendo

You can play the games online

You can download and install any 3DS, DS, or GBA game and run them perfectly (the 3ds still has the GBA hardware in it!)

You can emulate the Playstation 1 on a new 3ds!

And an absurd amount more.

I’ve actually made a guide about what to do after you homebrew your 3ds so you can really understand how much nonsense you can do.

You can find it here! It’s still early, but if you have any questions or comments, I’ve left comments enabled so I can get feedback.

Happy hacking!

in light of recent news

In light of recent news I am happy to announce that I’ll be making a guide for the Wii U as well. Unlike the 3DS, the U hacks are able to download directly from Nintendo’s servers, so the closure of the eShop will heavily affect the ability to access Wii U games from a 100% reliable source.

Prisoner of Azkaban continues to be the most frustrating book

Someone should have just adopted Sirius and started calling him Gerald.

Remus: Erm… this is our new order member, my… cousin Gerald. Gerald White.

“Mr. Lupin that is Sirius Black with glasses!”
“Oh come now Minister, Sirius Black doesn’t wear glasses. That wouldn’t make sense.”
“Well have Mr. White take off his glasses then!”
“He can’t he needs them to see.”

it got better

It’s honestly a miracle to me that wizarding society doesn’t collapse every other week because like

You’ve got this world full of people who can destroy whole buildings or turn people into beetles or make vehicles fly just by waving a stick at them

And there is literally no common sense

Anywhere to be found

Voldemort would never have had anyone find out he was back if he just went around calling himself Steve

Okay, see, I thought I saved this post to comment on it but I’d like to bring up

The Minister would NEVER EVER disbelieve in Gerald White. He’d buy it hook line and sinker. The wizarding world would buy it hook line and sinker. The GOBLINS wouldn’t but wizards have been shown to be pretty blindingly clueless. Still, Gringotts would grudgingly give Sirius access to the Black fortune.

But, but, but, you know the one person

theone person

who Gerald White would drive AB-SO-LUTELY FUCKING BATSHIT?

Severus Snape.

Snape would do everything, EVERYTHING, to get people to believe that it’s Sirius. But the Order would ignore it (they accepted Sirius as Sirius before anyway) and Remus would just be so… so affronted.

‘Severus, he is my cousin.’

And Sirius would love it. He’d love the fact that Snape just hated it. He’d be the BEST DAMN GERALD WHITE EVER b/c Snape is doing everything from dropping veritaserum into his firewhisky to capturing a dementor in a box and releasing it on Sirius when he least expects it

That one causes problems for a bare minute because SHIT A DEMENTOR ATTEMPTED TO GIVE GERALD THE KISS MAYBE SNAPE IS RIGHT except Harry comes forward and is like ‘excuse me, I’ve never committed a crime and dementors are ALWAYS attacking me, I think they’re attracted to glasses’

and the magical community is like ‘shit, yeah, you’re right’

and just

Spare. Snape goes spare.

Picturing Snape as Mr. Crocker from the Fairly Oddparents now.

Gerald White eventually becomes a fully registered animagus. When he turns into his animagus form right in front of Snape, Snape’s bursting at the seams, just pointing at him and spluttering:

‘HE’S A BIG BLACK DOG! A DOG - THAT IS BLACK. SIRIUS BLACK. BLACK DOG DOG BLACK.’

And Remus calmly says: “That’s absurd, Severus. Sirius Black was never an animagus and besides which, people’s names don’t have any influence over their animagus forms or anything like that. That’s ridiculous.”

And Snape yells: “Shut it WEREWOLF MCWEREWOLF!”

Everyone looks at Remus, who blinks and sighs as Gerald White turns back into his human form.

“Pure coincidence,” Gerald says. “My aunt was into Roman mythology. Has to happen sometimes.” Then he pauses to give Snape an overly concerned look. “Are you alright, Severus? You’re looking a little red.”

^this is my new life

im crying thanks for this

Another point in the direction of Gerald White Not Being Sirius Black is that everyone knows Sirius Black hated Severus Snape.

Gerald White bakes the ungrateful dungeon bat cookies and is always polite to him. It so nice that Gerald really wants to be friends.
