Not to get too serious but the fucked up part of the Ransom x reader ordeal is that Ransom doesn’t quite understand how bad he screwed up. He thinks it’s all part of the forged deal with reader, not recognizing how his actions violated reader’s consent.
Yeah, she enjoyed the act and achieved orgasm but he never received an enthusiastic yes; it was more of consent under duress and it was done in front of someone else, thus violating one of their unspoken rules.
I mean, I’m pretty sure that if Ransom saw reader being accosted by a stranger significantly bigger than her, he’d be by her side faster than a speeding bullet. But unfortunately he can’t see how his actions are akin to what that stranger did to reader in my hypothetical scenario.
I say all that to say this: something about this chapter really made me ponder about how all these characters deal with consent, consensual nonconsent and dubcon/noncon as well as how well some authors are able to portray the different nuances around consent in their romantic/sexual relationships found in their art.
The worst takes on this website are the ones which are just recycled right wing,imperialist,cis white conservative rhetoric but with a woke/feminist/gay cap on it,and its scary how so many people here unironically repeat them during discource while condemning the same arguments if they are said by cishet white conservative people.
I support all GNC people but can we please stop acting like gender nonconformity is the same in men as it is in women? Like “It’s okay to be a man who shaves his legs or a woman who doesn’t” or “boys can wear makeup too and girls don’t have to :))) it’s about choosing what you want”. I understand the intention behind it and of course, these statements are true, but acting like these things are comparable is just gross.
Gender nonconformity in men, in this context, is a performance, an active defiance (which is great and I support it!). For women it’s just… existing in their natural bodies. A woman could shipwreck onto an uninhabited island and she’d be the height of gender nonconformity. Stop treating natural female existence like it’s an active choice.
people will have BLM in their bios and yet be the first to resort to racist and anti black behavior the moment a black person tries to correct them. we’ll get branded as aggressive and uneducated. and there’s this assumption that we can’t be angry. that we have to be nice and hold non-blacks’ hands or some shit. it’s all very annoying
