Eddie isn’t looking for much tonight night, not really, not with just finishing up boot camp and only have a few days before he’s off to AIT for his schooling, and not with Shannon once again calling it quits on their relationship, for probably the eight time since they started dating two years ago. God he thinks to himself, he should have listened when his older sister told him shouldn’t have asked her out.
He mostly just wants to kick back with his boys, maybe at one of their apartments so it’s quiet and just soothing and just them having a good time; but Shrimpy whines and weedles them all until they agree to hit the nearest bar with cheap beer and loose women instead.
But here he is, sitting awkwardly at the bar, more towards the back where it’s more quiet, but still close enough he’s still near enough to jump in if any of this boys get into it with the locals, who are eyeing them with distrust and disdain. Shifting on the stool, he finishes his beer before quietly asking the bartender for a plain coke, because after all someone’s gonna need to keep an eye and a clear head he thinks as he watches as the doors were thrown open and a group of laughing and jeering college aged looking dude-bro’s come stumbling in.
Biting back a sigh, and an eye roll, Eddie mourns the loss of what was supposed to be a good night as he accepts his coke and takes a long sip, side eyeing the group, watching as one young man, lithe and blond and oh so pretty — Eddie couldn’t help but admire those long, lean legs, that trim waist and those pouty lips — breaks from the pack and saunters his way over and drops down onto the stole three from where Eddie’s seated.
Generally warring with the fact that if I was Taylor Kelly’s friend, I would be fuming at what Buck did to her (when she said he made sure she had no where to go, I could imagine excatly how that felt) and telling her to dump his ass, trash talking him and saying she could do better versus me knowing Buck is legit one of the kindest, most loving guys around and anyone would be lucky to have him.
I loved this episode of 9-1-1 (Poor Eddie I just want to wrap him up in the biggest hug ) but I just hated Buck cheating on Taylor, the first kiss was bad enough the second bleugh. (No fault to Lucy, she appears to have no idea his in a relationship and seems to just be a confident woman). I feel like it is out of character for him.
I don’t care to much about Taylor eithier way but she 100% did not deserve to be cheated on and even more so lied too. Buck told her he loved her and then asked her to move in, setting her up to think everything is great. After the conversation he rightfully gave Eddie last season about Ana this just felt kind of geoss to me. Taylor is going to get her heart broken and the as a person who has said she has trust issues this could be destroying. My heart just breaks for her knowing she is most likely gonna find out she is being lied too which may be worse than Buck saying he made a mistake.
This is just not the person I think Buck has become the last few years. Waiting for my heart of gold boy to make the right decision.
A little rant but I need to say this. So I love Buddie and I have shipped these two since the beggining, I also enjoy Buck as a character on the show.
But we have to talk about how a majority of people write him and Eddie. Buck is not a baby. Buck is a kickass character who has done a lot of growth in the 4 seasons. Buck is not treated badly by the firefam (sometimes you could argue he is downright right favoured) and even in the law suit there where hurt feelings and bad moves all around including Buck.
Then Eddie. Eddie is not aggressive, outside the fighting ring (which was consensual fighting, if idiotic), and actually when Buck was being a little sh*t to him in 2.01 he let it roll off him. Eddie is a POC character with culture and heritage, not just a stereotype. Eddie is an amazing dad AND Eddie is a characther outside of Buck. So many Buddie fics are written with how Buck feels about things (especially the well and the shooting, which is understandable as they where hard for him but Eddie gets left out or worse is the one who has to comfort Buck above anything else and remember he is the one both of these things happend too and has his share of trauma from it)
Eddie is not there to be a plot device for Buck, Eddie is not there to be Bucks comforter regardless of how Eddie feels. Eddie has been through war came home and been a single father and has faced more death experiences.
Chris adores Buck, Buck is his best friend but Eddie is his Dad, this is a kid who wouldn’t let Buck read him his story because he wants Dad to. That is how much he adores his dad. Eddie may have gone off to war and made some bad choices and not have been there for his son, but he provided for them and never stopped loving Chris and when he did come back worked 3 jobs so he could give Chris what he needed, and decided to be the best dad he could be. Buck is like a second parent, is loved by Chris and I see many fics about Chris and Buck generally as Buck as a saviour and honestly not enough of Chris and Eddie.
Eddie is reguarly the bad guy in fics where they have a realtionship spat or disagreement that end with Buck forgiving him and being perfect for doing so.
Lets have some appreciation for Eddie he is a awesome character who probably gets the least show time of the people who work at the firehouse.
In conclusion, Buddie needs to be a equal partnership and I know that a lot of this comes from a love of Buck and not malice but we need to stop doing this. So I am taking any and all fic suggestions where Eddie is written well and as equal. I will devour them and leave many lovely comments. I know there are some amazing fics out there.
I think Buck may not know completly how he feels yet but there is no way you can tell me Eddie is not 100% in love with his best friend and completly aware of this fact. He is a pining hard.
So as I sit here watching my favourite bad 90s romance I find my stuff yearning for a Buddie Notting Hill AU. Buck as the lonley megastar actor who falls in love with Eddie the average guy who just works hard and loves his kid.
Eddie falling for Buck as he learns the megastar people see has nothing on the kind hearted guy who always is just fun, patient and insanley good with kids……
That scene where they are reading scripts but with Chris as well and Buck acting all dramatic running lines with him ❤
The awkward meeting, the cute getting to know you scenes.
- The first emergency was hilarious. Mainly the 118s reactions to everything going on. When people start coming forward to say they where the online poster and Chimney has that moment where he is like Spartcus! ME NEXT! And Hen stops him. So small but just GOLD. Eddie is the king of facial expressions this season. “Good luck with the wedding!”
- I really enjoyed seeing Hen work with her school mates. Enough said it was just enjoyable.
- Hen is going to be a kick ass doctor and I loved her putting that Dr in his place. If I could change one thing I would have some Karen there but still
- Micheal and David are adorable and I love seeing them. I also love the relationship the Grant family have with each other in general. The facr that Bobby is the only one who can put up with Micheal and the fact that Micheal is just like. Nah I love you boo, but BOBBY is my pictionary partner
- Eddie, babe, Carla spent multiple days a week in your house. She doesn’t care about where the pillows are positioned.
- Poor Maddie. A colic bany is a absolutely horrfifc thing to experience. They really do just cry and cry it is horrfifc to watch and I haven’t experienced it as a mother but I have watched it and it must be emotionally heart wrenching to be able to do nothing and on top of what looks like potenital post partum.
- Carla’s reunion scene and the hug was adorable
- Carla is also right. But now Eddie has put himself in a tough situation. It seems by the look on his face that following his heart does not lead to Ana and sadly that might hurt Chris but if that’s the way he feels it needs to be sooner rather than later. A good parent needs to do right by themselves just as much as by thier kids to have a healthy relationship. Plus come on Eddie we all know you belong with Buck. I just need to see these to together for my soul.
- I enjoyed the mom and son story line. I could tell what it was but it is really great to see Eddie interacting with kids outside of Chris. He really is also amazing with kids and it is adorable that Chris wants to be Charlie’s friend after 2 seconds. That kid is a gem.
- Seems like Chris is allowed video games again. The Hildy panic must have subsided. I feel Chris probs has Buck to thank for that.
- Bobby and Athena both have a point. The problem here is communication which is life is always easier said than done. I love them and they WILL get through it cause they must. I refuse anything else
- I hoenstly think Eddie my be my fav. I just love him so much and have missed him these last few weeks.
- Poor Charlie. I thought I knew this storyline and where it was going but I didn’t see him giving her the posion.
- Finally EDDIE! No! We may have known this is coming but still. Watching Eddie and Buck reach out for each other and Buck’s stunned face. Eddie must be protected at all costs
- The promo of Buck having to tell Chris that Eddie isn’t coming home tonight breaks me. In ny head he follows that woth we are going to the hospital to see him. Me and you, he cant wait to see you. Because Eddie is FINE and just needs his boys!
So Taylor has really grown on me. I actually disliked her in S2 because as much as she is absolultey stunning and I love a confidant woman who is great at her job. What she wanted to do to Bobby was just no.
BUT this season she has had time to actually develop as a character and I really enjoyed watching her this episode now she is interacting with a character other than Buck. As much as I love Buck I really hope she doesnt end up a love interest for him. She seemed like she really needed a friend since the pandemic started and that friendship with Buck has grown into something special and it would be awesome to see 911 really build Taylor as a strong woman and a character who regularly pops up instead of just a love interest.
I may ship Buddie hard but I love to see strong woman on screen and I really think 9-1-1 could benefit from a reoccuring single female character.
Side notes on tonights episode
- Treasure Hunt was a perfect mix of Jinx and the Bank Heist episode which where both great episodes. They really excel at this fun comedy angle where everyone gets to contribute.
- I enjoyed seeing Buck, Eddie and Taylor scenes. Ryan excels at facial expressions and his jealoys look was hilarious
- Karen casually wrote an algorithm. She is a queen
- I love the probie and hope he pops up more. I mean he solved it himself and then was like I do not really know these guys when taking to police
- Yay scenes with Eddie, missed ya
- Loved Buck being so disappointed he didn’t get to do helicopter rescue but got the sewage one
