Phonetics of Consonants Poster
Explore Bruce Myhre’s photos on Flickr. Bruce Myhre has uploaded 251 photos to Flickr.I saw this visualisation of the IPA consonant symbols located in the mouth reblogged elsewhere today. I’ve succeeded in locating down the designer and hi-Res versions. Yipee! It seems to be part of an “Introduction to Phonetics” pack.
Cool! These might also be useful, made by awesome Mikael Parkvall

Original prompt by @cartoon-and-animal-lover
This post on visual snow had me realizing that there was a nameto the blood-colored static i tried to explain to a friend a while back while comparing how accurately we could hold an image in our heads. Up until a couple of years ago, i had thought that mental imagery was roughly the same for everyone other than those with eidetic memory, and was baffled to learn that some people could barely hold images in their mind at all (some of those people are still able to draw for a living???)
At the time i had created some visuals to attempt to explain how my thoughts ‘looked,’ and since i still think they’re interesting i figured i’d post them.
Is it different for you? What is yours like? Feel free to tell me or make your own, i find this deeply fascinating.
electron transport chain / oxidative phosphorylation
Designed + drew this electron transport chain(ETC)/oxidative phosphorylation diagram for my Microbiology assignment! The criteria was to draw a diagram based on one of the topics given regarding microbial metabolism + explain it to children in a primary school. It was quite fun to brainstorm ideas for the design + it took me 3 days to complete it. I tried to use food as my theme b/c no kids can resist sweets + snacks right? Hahahah
I had replaced:
- Protein complexes I, III + IVasboba teas/bubble teas
- Protein complex II as a cake
- Cytochrome c as a cake as well
- ATP synthase as a combination of two cakes linked together by a biscuit stick
- Hydrogen ions as the golden (honey) bobas
- Hydrophilic head of phospholipid bilayer as hard-boiled eggs
- Hydrophobic tails of phospholipid bilayer as fries
PS: I used some pictures from laoren-chen and a few textbooks as references! So, credits to them :)
