An important announcement
As always, we appreciate your support for Choutokkyuu.
We apologize for the sudden news, but it has been decided that Kouichi will be leaving the group.
He has been active as a back vocal for Choutokkyuu since 2011, but after having discussions with him about what he would like to do in the future and taking everything into consideration, his goals were different from what the group wanted to achieve, and so we arrived at the decision to let him stop his activities as a member of Choutokkyuu.
To all the 8Gousha, we deeply apologize for the sudden announcement.
Although Choutokkyuu and Kouichi will now be walking separate paths, Choutokkyuu will not halt their activities and will still be chasing after their dreams with all the 8Gousha, running along the rails to their dreams with even more challenges to face.
As to when Kouichi will be leaving the group, we have yet to finalize everything, but at this current point in time, in regards to already finished shoots, it will be the 7 of them appearing.
Furthermore, as for the already announced 1st single for 2018, the 6 members will still be releasing it as planned.
Concerning the 2018 spring arena tour, it will be the 6 members performing.
Please keep on supporting Choutokkyuu and Kouichi.

Choutokkyuu has consisted of cars 1-8, and until now, all 7 of us have been aiming for our dream to perform at Tokyo Dome with the 8Gousha.
Nevertheless, I deeply regret that we have to inform all of the 8Gousha of this news on such short notice.
I always wanted to keep on running with all of the members. However, there was really nothing I could do.
Thinking of what all the 8Gousha are feeling really hurts my heart, and I feel like it could burst open with all these regrets that I have.
Having someone leave was not what I would have wanted.
Choutokkyuu will become 6, and all of you 8Gousha can take 10 minutes to let out all of your feelings on the matter.
However, for Kouichi, and for the 6 of us, please try and understand this unavoidable matter.
Choutokkyuu has become us 6 and the 8Gousha, and we will still be running towards our dream of performing at Tokyo Dome.
I still wanna keep on running with Kouichi’s feelings in mind, too. So to all the 8Gousha out there, I’d really appreciate it if you would support both Kouichi and us 6. Please treat Choutokkyuu well.

Summer Movie Preview: Breakout stars to watch
Andrew Koji has his mom to thank for his two biggest breaks to date. She’s the one who filmed his auditions, in the garage in England, for both the television show “Warrior” and “Bullet Train,” which opens July 29.
“Bullet Train” is one of the most anticipated releases of the summer: An action-packed thriller from director David Leitch (“Deadpool 2”) starring Brad Pitt, Joey King, Bad Bunny, Bryan Tyree Henry, Sandra Bullock and Koji.
He was already excited about the project and working with Leitch, then he heard Pitt had signed on as well.
“It felt surreal because I never really put him and me in the same world,” Koji wrote in an email. “I never thought that my career path would ever cross with his.”
Koji’s plays Kimura, one of the original characters from Kōtarō Isaka’s popular book.
“He is going through a lot when we first meet him, and it gets worse for him throughout the film. He’s a troubled beaten-down soul, who boards the train looking for redemption,” Koji said. “He is intended to be more at the dramatic core of the film to play off and balance out the more comedic lighter tones and characters.”
Though Koji has training in martial arts, he didn’t actually have to draw on those skills much for “Bullet Train.” But he did have to keep his stamina up.
“I ended up having this full-on day shooting two different scenes, side by side. I was running back and forth from the 2nd unit, working on an intense fight … to a different scene on main unit working on an emotional scene with Hiroyuki,” Koji said. “That was a real rush, I loved that day. It was one of my favorite days of filming.”

May 31st - Travel to Kyoto
Shinkansen at Kyoto Station
Today I was so sick that most of today past in a blur and I didn’t take as many pictures as usual. When I got dinner with Seth and Austin, I thought Austin said ‘sam’ instead of ‘one of us,’ and I also called Seth Ian. My head feels heavy and dizzy, and I have a dripping nose like nothing else. So, obviously, the train today was an absolute blast. We all got our shinkansen, or bullet train, tickets, but when I went through the gates the machine ate mine. I had to wait while the attendants got it out, but by that time there were only 10 minutes until the train. Maggie, one of our group leaders, and had to run around the platforms to find the train. We ended up going the wrong way and having to rush back, making it to the train minutes before everyone boarded.
I sat in between Valerie and Austin on the train, and honestly, don’t remember much of it. The train goes up to 300mph, but it’s so smooth that you can’t really feel it. I played started valley for a while, and then just knocked out. I was originally sleeping against the chair, but I guess at some point I slipped down against Austin because when I woke up there was snot all over the shoulder of his shirt (sorry Austin). Then, I read a little bit of a fantasy book over his shoulder, and then we were there in what felt like no time.
If Tokyo is the New York of Japan, Kyoto is
After arriving, I went to a pizzeria with Seth and Austin, and we met Summer, Valerie, and Amaya there. We walked around the main shopping center for a while, and I found a bunch of cute places I want to check out later.
Academic Reflection
Our reading today was on the history of the shinkansen. The trains faced a lot of resistance initially, due to the insane amount of money needed to create the tracks. Additionally, it causes weird changes in population density, which causes problems in the past. This was noticeable in that the platforms for bullet trains were across the station from any other trains, as old tracks can’t be modified for a bullet train, new ones need to be built.
The train passed through mainly sparsely populated areas, but every time there was a stop the city would suddenly bloom before us. This was a clear representation of how the shinkansen and city growth cannot be separated - they both rely on each other. One thing I noticed is that we didnt pass through much farmland, and I dont know if this is becuase of the specific line or becuase the line was so disrupted by the line that they failed afterwards, or maybe becuase I just slept throught that scnenery.
