#asexuality
Just some PSAs since it’s the start of Ace Week.
Happy International Asexuality Day!!
no one:
asexuals before realizing they’re ace: isn’t it weird how we call people “hot” when we just mean, like, pretty? it makes it sound like you actually feel hot when you see them. which isn’t a thing. anyway
ok i am absolutely losing it over the sheer number of people who found out what hot means from this post
Man, this is like the time my therapist explained that watching characters with “chemistry” is supposed to make you feel aroused. Who knew, right?
I’m sorry what?
I thought it was supposed to make you intrigued like any other plot device
happy ace visibility day! reminder to everyone on the ace spectrum that people can see us today and we need to be more careful when committing any potential crimes we may or may not be doing. thank you, this has been a psa
I want to say that such a big youtuber coming out as aroace is such a step forward in representation in general of course, but also specifically by using the rainbow flag and only ever portraying those two identities as unquestionably being part of the LGBTQ+ community in her video, a huge step forward for the general opinion to properly consider us part of the community since it’s unfortunately a “debate”. She really reaffirmed our belonging in the community and that is so impactful.
Hi, ace-spec friends! A friend of mine is doing a really cool research project on asexuality, but needs to conduct interviews with ace-spec people for that to work! If you’d like to participate or learn more please drop me a line and I’ll pass along contact info. Interviews can be done over the internet, or in person if you’re near Eau Claire, WI.
Is someone maintaining an up-to-date bibliography of papers (etc.) about asexuality? The one at Asexual Explorations stopped being updated a couple of years ago, and I don’t know if someone else picked it up and ran with it.
There isn’t one that I know of, but I did make a template for crowd sourcing an abbreviated bibliography that I just hadn’t announced yet, if anyone wants to contribute: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1grW1OcCv_Pd3_e8LHLxK8tlyHwteIPiN6hda8J1ik1M/edit?usp=docslist_api Once its more fleshed out I was planning to host it on asexualitysf.org and/or the asexual research tumblr.
I’m starting a series of first-hand ace stories, and I want to hear from you! This third wave of the #AceStories series will focus of Neurodivergent aces and their personal stories regarding both being a part of the ace community and how that intersects with their neuro-diversity.
Submit your stories via my submit box or post on your own blog and tag them #NeurodivergentAceStories and #AceStories
Asexuality is not some exceptionally rare, impossible thing. Even using the common 1% estimate (which many people think is low), that’s 3.2 million Americans. If you met someone who said “Hey, I’m from Chicago”, you wouldn’t tell them that you didn’t believe them, because people from Chicago are only about 1% of the population. “You’re really from New York or California. Statistically, that’s far more likely.“ That would be ridiculous.
Hello friends!
We need more blogs to follow! We’re interested in midwestern, agender, asexual, and aromantic-centric blogs, but are open to anything lgbtqia+ positive, body positive, or otherwise inspirational! :) Thanks so much!
