Next up in the Inktober challenge of Darkly-Inclined characters is Shareena Wickett from Detention. Detention was a animated series that came out in 1999 and ran on Kids’ WB. Shareena Wickett was the protagonist of the show and was a darkly-inclined 6th grader who loved Gothic horror books and also tried doing a seance in one episode. She was another early Gothic type character I saw as a kid and I thought she was adorable. Unfortunately the show only had one season and I would recommend watching it but the show is hard to find though if you want to give it a try, there are two episodes on YouTube if you’re curious. :)

The first teaser trailer for the upcoming documentary series: Remember The Memories: A Clone High Podcast. A six-part series, Remember The Memories chronicles the creation, development, cancellation, and unexpected success of the cult animated series Clone High.
The series features interviews with co-creators Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (The Lego Move, 21 & 22 Jump Street, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse), executive producer & co-creator Bill Lawrence (creator of Scrubs and co-creator of Ted Lasso), animation director Harold Harris, storyboard artist Arna Selznick, character designer Carey Yost, and musician/theme composer Tommy Walter of Abandoned Pools.
Remember The Memories is set to release in summer 2021 and is co-hosted by Samuel Parker Smith (Twitter: @samuelsmith_ & Instagram: @samuelsmithpresents) and Ethan Harper (@ethancharper) and is co-produced by Katherine Spada (@kat_ex_machina). What is a zine?
A zine is an event where artists and writers come together in a fandom to create works in honor of a show/movie/book/etc. In this case, we are creating a fan zine based off the animated series, Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu!
How does this work?
-This is a Ninjago themed zine that will be a FREE, PDF download upon its release.
-We are looking for 20 participants— 15 artists and 5 writers (including the mods). However, if the zine gains popularity, this number will likely change.
-This is zine is Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu centric- meaning all the content will be will be based off the television series, and not the movie. As is the case, there will be no romantic ships outside of what is canon within the show (as we would like to keep this as discourse-free as possible).
-Since Ninjago is a children’s series, the zine will be SFW (Rated PG). Meaning, nothing outside the show’s scope of content will be allowed.
Application Requirements
- Both artists and writers must submit works that are SFW
- Artists are to submit at least three of their best works showcasing their style. (For artists, works do not have to be Ninjago related)
- Writers are to submit at least three of their best works showcasing their writing style and characterization
- At least one story submission must be Ninjago related
Projected Schedule (subject to change)
- May 28th: Applications open
- June 24th: Applications close
- June 28th: Acceptance/Rejection emails go out
- July 1st: Participants list is released
- Check-in 1: July 7th
- Check-in 2: TBA
- Check-in 3: TBA
