my mom is telling me “get a good job” but my heart is telling me “marry rich”

This way of thinking really needs to stop. Women can supports themselves just as much as men can now. And it’s not okay for men to “marry rich,” so why is it okay for women to do it?

greetings friend i am boy

best plot twist in history.

Maybe I want to marry a rich woman.

WTF are those obelisks on the right?…

Tasty obelisk fries..

“It’s digestible” has got to be the laziest goal I’ve ever seen achieved by a food product.

“It’s digestible”

“It’s digestible” is pertinent!! Okay, for those of you who haven’t researched Crisco for writing fic about gay sex in the mid-late 60s:

The first-edition of The Joy of Gay Sex, published in 1977, declared, “Vegetable shortening may be the best lubricant, since it is not only greasy but also digestible”[4] Such a statement perhaps gives new meaning to the companies boastful declarations that “Its digestible” and “Crisco has been making life in the kitchen more delicious for years.”  Similarly, in the 1978 sex manual The Advocate Guide to Gay Health, Crisco even earned an entry in the book’s index.  Discussions of the shortening’s use as an anal lubricant indicate its popularity, with statements such as: “The lubricant, typically the cultic Crisco, must be copious.”[5]  In fact, Crisco was so synonomus with gay sex that discos and bars around the world took on the name, such as Crisco Disco in New York City, which was one of the premiere clubs during the 1970s and early 1980s.  Other clubs or bathhouses, such as Club Z in Seattle, even featured murals with Crisco.  Thus, Crisco was conversely also one of many things that led to the formation of gay identities during the 20th century.

The more you know! :D

I have learned a new thing today.

Love this post for so many reasons but most especially because this is from all the way back in 2012 and and yet not a single blog in this thread is deactivated

I enjoy that not only does this have a link to an actual source, but the link still fucking works.

but@rhea314 you didnt include a picture of the crisco disco! AND MY GOD THE DJ BOOTH WAS A GIANT CRISCO CAN!

Go dance and get fisted. Fucking iconic.

Love the gay history, but i just wanna correct that the “it’s digestible” in the gay stuff was a reference to crisco’s tagline it had been using since 1911, the actual meaning of its digestible is because it’s main competition came from “enhanced” lards which were rendered pig fat mixed with non food thickeners that literally did not digest and caused people to basically just shit out pig cream, since crisco was veggie based the body digested it along with the food

And in case you were still wondering, @mudwerks.. Tuna Croquettes

This post is the opposite of net zero information. Not only did I learn several new facts about gay history but also we rounded our way back to the original question of the tag line and the mini obelisks.

It’s a net profit of information. 12/10 post

when i was in middle school Rude by bruno mars came on the radio in the car with my mom and at the chorus it goes “why you gotta be so rude, don’t you know i’m human too, i’m gonna marry ya anyway” and my mom now had her Disapproving Aura on and sighed and said. see this is why [my divorced uncle] married [his mean ex-wife]. what a sad way of loving. and 13yo me was like Oh Damn That Deep. and mentally filed away the lesson Popular Music Promotes Toxic Behavior Therefore Don’t Marry Someone Who’s Mean To You. and ever since then rude by bruno mars has made me just a little bit sad. cut to 5+ years later the song is no longer popular. i happen to hear it over the tinny speakers in a random fast food place. all at once i realize the lyrics are not, in fact, about marrying a girl despite her hating you (gonna marry ya anyway), but marrying a girl despite her parents hating you (gonna marry her anyway). 13yo me and my mom misheard the same lyric and never paid attention to the rest of the song. i am flabbergasted. one of the pillars of my childhood development has just crumbled in a Subway. i am frantically realigning my entire internal ethics system. the cashier still wants to know if i’m getting a cookie. nothing is real

my world is crumbling around me

if anyone gets a message akin to “what do you think of the joy of satan website” do not go to that website and delete the message. the message varies just slightly blog to blog for people to believe it’s a real person suggesting a new religion, but those are bots and that website is home to a cult. stay safe out there.

IK I just also reblogged this without comment, but I think it’s important to mention that it’s also straight-up Nazi shit. Just so you know.

America is absolutely disconnected to meat

I think I realized this when I had went to see my dad and stepmom one day and asked if I could place my hawk’s food. (A rabbit leg) in the freezer. My step mom was disgusted by the idea that a leg from an animal was in the freezer meanwhile an entire chicken was sitting in the fridge.

Your rotisserie chicken is an entire chicken.

Your pork chop is a hunk of pig.

Your rack of ribs are from a cow’s rib cage.

It’s like Americans view meat as colorful red and pink hued shapes that just exist and come into the world packaged.

You see so many people getting harassed or even having their content flagged for showing how to process or field dress meat when it’s at it’s freshest. Right after culling. For some reason this is considered “gore” by many folks when in reality it’s no more different from plucking a processed chicken after cull.

You also notice that Americans have an idea of what’s normal meat and what isn’t normal meat and there’s racist undertones that I’ve noticed in a lot of these comments left on foreign cooking videos

You have people that claim a video of a man in a different country preparing something like this is “eating a dog.” Meanwhile this is roasted goat.

You have people who’s only perception of an edible fish is in fillet or fish stick form and they call something like this nasty because “Eww there’s a head!” Yeah.. most animals have heads..

Some of ya’ll need to realize what your meat looks like prior to processing and that it’s prepared in different ways. We also need to erase the stigma behind non traditional meats.

Truly, genuinely, as an indigenous person I talk about this exact thing a LOT! Like, don’t get me wrong I get a bit squicked when dressing a chicken or gutting and cleaning a fish, lord knows I had really mixed feelings the first time I saw a deers throat slit (I thought it was cruel, until my elder asked me if I would have preferred to let it suffer instead)

The truth of the matter is that animals and humans are intertwined. We are food to one another, that’s the way of the world and I think people forget that when we champion for humane treatment of animals and when we rail against factory farming we need to remember that removing death is not the goal, removing undue suffering it.

if you were a young girl from 2007-2012 then The Camisole was your only defense against the terrible onslaught of uncomfortable youth fashion. every shirt from that era was a low cut scoop neck/v-neck and every pair of jeans was low-rise; the camisole stitched these miserable garments into a complete outfit in the same was that frankenstein’s monster was fashioned a complete man. The Camisole has done more for society than our troops.

genuinely concerned about how little queer history thats getting through to the younger members of the community. literally saw teenagers talking about how talking about pronouns wasn’t a thing until 2020??? horrifying to think that they seem to insist queer culture didn’t exist until they found it.

the fucking attack helicopter joke has been around since 2014!! leslie feinberg was born in 1949 and ze used ze/hir pronouns and obviously made comics about hir and hir communities identity and life! phalloplasty was first described in 1938!! christine jorgensen had surgery in the 50s to transition and published her biography in the 60s! even in the 1800s writers were talking about the need for *gender neutral* pronouns in both fiction and nonfiction!

yes, social media has let trans and queer people spread more knowledge about pronouns and identity, but acting like none of it even existed till the 2010s or even sooner is… concerning.

our older generations died, but that doesn’t mean the knowledge has to die too! do not ignore and diminish the people before you.

Not to mention that many native cultures have words for third, or in between genders. Some languages weren’t didn’t even have gendered terms until colonization

Apparently a Jezebel writer found Richard Spencer’s profile on Bumble and then reached out to confirm it was him and it was. Also he’s been claiming to be moderate for a few years now according to the people who filed a lawsuit against him and the other Charlottesville Unite The Right organizers. The court found in the plaintiffs’ favor last November and now Dick Spencer says he has been “financially crippled.”

Everyone say thank you Anne Tifa

Whenever I see people discoursing online about how all fiction must model good behavior and explicitly state that any bad behavior depicted is wrong, lest someone in the audience mistake it for “glorifying,” all I can think of is that line from Arrested Development where Buster, in his mid-30s, objects to something by saying “that’s not the way mother is raising me”

Like yeah maybe YA books and kids’ cartoons have a responsibility to demonstrate the difference between Right and Wrong, since the audience is, like, actual children, but if you’re consuming literally anything more advanced than Disney XD’s Ducktales, you should absolutely be expected to bring your own moral framework from home and not need your media to spoon-feed morality to you

if you see a show about a a man manufacturing and selling methamphetamine while abusing his wife and murdering people and you can’t tell whether the author intends for you to think his actions are right or wrong? That might be more your problem than the text’s. You might just, at that point, be an idiot.
