Today I learned…

I was generally aware of Ann Magnuson from a number of things but this is the kind of thing I would have especially like to have known about.

pussyhoundspock:

the idea that ten years before TOS they had the technology to alter species genomes so they could blend in on a planet but kirk just made spock where silly hats everywhere for no reason is very funny actually

here’s my favourite little detail from tmwwbk:

Cas’s tie

he normally wears this tie backwards. this episode though, that changes. while cas is working with crowley, his tie flips around, to how a ‘proper’ tie is tied.

contrasted with the flashbacks in this episode to before these moments, it’s an intentional choice to flip it.

then, while cas is spying on the winchesters, his tie is flipped again. Hiding himself and his intentions. It remains this way throughout the scene. Even after he reveals himself to them, the tie is 'forward’. And dean realizes cas is lying to them during this scene.

However, when he chooses to return to them later, his tie is normal. He’s trying to show them that he’s being honest and himself, but the jig is up. Dean already knows that cas has betrayed them now. Cas cannot hide his intentions from dean, his 'soul’ is barred.

Cas’ tie is a representation of him, particularly in the earlier seasons. He wears it backwards as a consistent choice. In this episode, we get to see both sides of his life. The double agent. And he’s aware of it. He doesn’t want to associate his 'normal’ self with what he’s doing with crowley, and, he doesn’t want his friends dean to know what he’s up to either, so he attempts to don a different persona in a sense, like it’s not really him that’s betraying them. It’s not his fault. He has to do this. And the fact that its an accident. A moment of instinct to protect his family. His 'real self’ flashing through, while he was spying on them, that leads to him giving himself away, shown by having the tie being wrong for that moment. Chef’s kiss. So good.

There are no more secrets, so the tie stays normal past this point. But it’s a fascinating point to consider: cas can no longer separate his two lives anymore. He’s been found out. The only thing he can do is look the man he loves in the eyes, bare his soul to him, and watch as he leaves him trapped.

ben edlund was like is anyone gonna give the millenia old angel his own episode to discuss the historic burden and destructive force that is free will and choice through the lens of a being who is still learning the consequences of it and also make it gay

to all artists out there. don’t be shy raise your commission prices

nothing on your commission sheet should say 5$ even if it’s just a sketch. 5$ for ANY drawing is way too low

“but my arts not good enough for me to charge more-“ bro you’re doing this for money arent you. you have commissions open so you can get money. what’s the harm in getting more money. if you have commissions open someone will commission you regardless of your own perceived quality of your work. you can raise the price of your fullbody fully rendered slots. i promise you. that is a thing you can do. no one will kill you for it
